Hello from Middlesbrough

Or should that be Sunny Middlesbrough... anything to make it sound as glamourous as some of the locations being hallood from on here! (Its not sunny btw, not even slightly).

Anyway I digress. My name is Stephen. I'm a forty-something father of two making a living as a computer programmer. I was once an aspiring writer pre-1998, but when my children were born my office became a nursery and suddenly I had neither the time nor the inclination to write, on top of that the internet was invented and I even stopped reading fiction in favour of blogs and forums like this - oh the shame.

I have a few websites of my own and I have been writing a lot for them lately. Plus, thanks largely to one GRRM I have started reading again. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed a good book so one thing leads to another and here I am seeing if I am still as bad a writer as I was 14 years ago, or not.

Needless to say I will be mostly hanging out in the 'aspiring writer' section but hopefully will find time to contribute to the general forum too.

Thanks for having me
Stephen

Re: Hello from Middlesbrough

I hope you left your sanity in the proper receptacle when you came in, it's of little use here.

Don't mind the giant spider, she's only dangerous to pringles and people who kick her cat. If the net goes down, she usually hides under the duvet, so seeing one walking around passes for normal around here.

Three expeditions have vanished without trace trying to find the exit, but we usually rub along. Welcome aboard.

Cheers Stevietee, glad you made it out of the smog

Now you're infected there is no antidote. To see yourself in a few years - look at me

Re: Hello from Middlesbrough

welcome welcome *sunny smile to make up for your not as sunny as you said it was weather* writing discussion is always hopping and where I tend to lurk most often. the lounge is fun (more fun than the game room but you didnt hear me say that) and when I had time to think I liked to hang out down in discussions, neat science and world news topics get batted about with the most respect and intelligence I have ever seen on the web.

hope you have a nice stay

Re: Hello from Middlesbrough

Welcome to an island of sanity amidst a world of total madness... or was that the other way round?

Is there an Outersbrough? Or an innersbrough? If there's a middlesbrough, do they surround it?
