Well he was brought up on a University campus and he's been speaking on BBC TV since 1952 (five years before I was born!) so I guess he has developed extremely clear diction along with the classic 'BBC accent'. But what I like most is the way he never speaks down to you and always conveys a contagious enthusaism for his subjects. He is always a joy to listen to!
