It's that British Commonwealth clause that lets Australians get in.

You still have 10 days, TDZ. Where are the pratchett guidelines DEO? (Ty, for that, let's hope the inspiration thread sparks something!)
Oh, and mine's away. Eek.

Here you go, Springs:

http://www.terrypratchett.co.uk/?p=1348

Basically, a novel (80k - 150k) written by an author who has never published a novel before, set on an Earth different from our own. Closes 31 December 2012.

Re: How is everyone...

Hmm. Intriguing. But how does 'the story must be theoretically possible on some version of the past, present or future of a planet Earth.' fit with magics and unicorns and whatnots?

Re: How is everyone...

If your unicorns worship Darwin, God of Evolution, and not some foolish Creationist creed; and if your magic obeys the laws of physics; and if your giant ants are crushed beneath the weight of their own exoskeletons; and if your whatnots are more what than not, then I guess your story qualifies.

If you're worried, post a question at the site. I did that almost two months ago. It is theoretically possible that my reply has been sent to an Alternate Earth...

Yeah, we fought a war about that stuff.

Move up over the border to Canada, TDZ; a long vacation?

Re: How is everyone...

I'm feeling a bit of Christian's worry I think. Sitting with my finished document and fretting. So worried something might not be quite right - something I missed.

I think I might just have to be like you, Springs; just submit it and get the whole thing out of my mind, then take a week off and do something else.

Re: How is everyone...

Ok, I told my husband I'm moving to England for a contest. He's not happy with the idea. He doesn't like Canada any better. Of course, of all the choices, I'd prefer Australia, but that's waaaay too far away!
