Are you a beige person?

Okay. I admit I hate the curse of the beige. People afflicted with this disease are usually boring, uninteresting and could send a glass eye to sleep!!

What are the qualifications Gary I hear you ask. Here are some but there could be more.

People who walk toward the grass, see the sign to keep off. Then twist their bodies to avoid breaking the rules and nearly fall over.

People who always adhere to the rules whatever the consequence.

People who quote the rule book.

People who get a utility bill in the post and have it paid by 2pm the same day.

People who plan their futures to the nano-second.

People who frown upon the lower classes.

People who have a scone and a cream cake for their afternoon tea.

People who's greatest risk taken in their lives was to buy a premium bond. And they lose sleep over the interest they are losing.

Millionaires who tell you, constantly, what they own and what they are worth.

People who pretend to be posh but are not.

Retired people, who wash their cars every day. Even when it's raining.

The list to go on and on and on and...

Re: Are you a beige person?

I may be imagining things, but is Gary building up to a fit of beige rage?

And if I were to say yes? None apply but I do have a fairly boring, sedate life, and have been known to indulge in the odd scone.

Re: Are you a beige person?

I could mention, "Idiots of the Beige."

That's another thread though!!

Springs your definitely a bit creamy, not necessarily beige though. I will have to do a test.

Re: Are you a beige person?

Not beige at all. For colors I'd have to go with blacks and strong reds, with blue and purple thrown in there to add flavor to the mix.

The thing is, their life is the one novel that everyone writes. Since you have no choice but to write it, I say write it so that it is interesting. So many people would find the novel of their own life totally boring - wasted opportunity I say! Besides, if reading a dull novel is boring, writing one is even worse. So make it colorful, bold and interesting!

Re: Are you a beige person?

I'm beige, but not by choice. I can't really take risks and I have nowhere to go.

What would I be like if I could open up more? Well, aside from the fact that I would not pull extreme sports, I might be a bit more open to things....and I never, ever, look down on anyone because of their status, and I never would. Judge by character, not by sight. My biggest risks would probably be trying new foods and visiting new cultures.

And that comes straight from the mouth-well, the lettuce, anyway-of the sandwich man.

It seems to me that that depends on just how odd the scone is (and in what way).

Re: Are you a beige person?

Having had the house painted recently, and therefore having spent ages looking at paint charts, I can cheerfully say that sometimes I'm more of a Hessian hue, and at others more Stone.

Mind you, this is all because I've had the odd cream tea on a Cornish holiday.

*Maybe Gary needs to clarify whether, as with some diseases you need to meet 3 or more of the criteria before you can truly be classed as Beige . . . *

Re: Are you a beige person?

*Puts tongue in cheek and prepares for silly post*

I am not beige, but I try not to be beige-ist. Some of my best friends are beige... wait that is a lie. I know people who are beige. OK, I know OF people who are beige... Ok I have read about beige people. Beige sounds pretty boring to me.

Can't say as I know any really, I avoid that kind of company. But I'm not a beige-ist. If they want to live like that, more power to them! it's just not my kind of lifestyle, you know? So long as they aren't rubbing the beige lifestyle in my face, you know, trying to get me to live their way... There are all sorts of people in the world you know? But beige, well, its just not my thing, you know? I mean, beige is, well, so beige right?

I wonder if Gary has had to sell his title, Lord of the Manor, to some particularly common members of the Nouveau Riche in order to pay for the repairs to Compton Towers (or whatever his family seat is called).

I have done this, I have even taken a step or two onto the grass, noticed the sign and then tip-toed off.

Woudl this list count as a set of rules to being beige and is being quoted?

Does direct debit count? I think it means I pay my bills before they arrive!

I sometimes have a permentant frown, so I frown at all classes, does that count?

That puts me at 4 (ish) so I wonder does that mean I am beige. I would suggest that being Grey (as a personality trait not as a hair colour) is worse than beige, at beige that some brown in it.

Re: Are you a beige person?

I was hoping for a bit of colour on this thread when I eventually woke up today after a night on the peeve.

Had a bacon sarnie and a can of lager to try and get rid of me hangover. Anyway no colour just endless beige, light cream and off-white.

You are all definately beige and your writing will become a cure for people who can't sleep.

More like Faulty Towers and Lard of the Manor (I've got more chins than the Chinese telephone directory)
