Independant Fanatasy Authors and Series Hi All This is my first attempt at a thread and if it all goes wrong sorry in advance. Since I got my Kindle I have been reading a lot of Independant Fantasy (as it's usually very cheap on Amazon). I just wondered if anyone else had done the same and if they have any Favourites or recommendations. My Favourites so far are: T.C Southwell - The Queen Blades Series David Dalglish- Shadowdance Trilogy (and also the Half Orcs) Jeff Inlo - Delver's Magic

Re: Independant Fanatasy Authors and Series Never read fanatasy myself. Read fantasy when I was younger though (and occasionally still). Welcome and I hope your thread gains a few leads to good reads I will check a few out if it does! For something a new and fresh, have a look at Ella Stradling's Secrets of the Revealers series. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ella-Stradli..._athr_dp_pel_1 No elves or trolls or dragons here, just a unique and enjoyable fantasy epic over two books. And I hear she is writing the third in the series Last edited by DrMclony; 14th April 2012 at 11:02 AM.

Re: Independant Fanatasy Authors and Series Thank you both for your inputs. I will look them both out. ps. Sorry for the spelling. I knew Independent looked wrong. Not sure where I went wrong with Fanatsy though. Was just excited for starting my first thread. I don't know how to change it now though.

Re: Independant Fanatasy Authors and Series Imaro books by Charles.R Saunders are seminal S&S series from the 80s to now that have been reprinted independently by the author through Lulu etc If you like S&S its a must read series. Only first two books are in print by Nightshade.

Re: Independant Fanatasy Authors and Series I'm going to mention two writers here. For clarity and perhaps as a caveat, I should say that I know them both (they go to a writing group I sometimes attend). I don't know what the etiquette is in this situation, but I can say that they are both good writers, although their style and subjects are completely different. First up, Kevin Bennett's Pike's Quest is a light fantasy adventure with a fair helping of daft comedy. In tone it reminds me of The Princess Bride. It's silly but the right kind of silliness, which is harder to do than it sounds. I'm not sure whether I'd call it young adult or not, but it's a fun (if slightly crazy!) romp. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pikes-Quest-...9369040&sr=8-1 Secondly, David Weaver has done some very good linked short stories following a traditional Japanese structure. He's also written a fantasy novel, but the stories in Flowerchain Stories are more subtly strange than overtly fantastical. His prose is very nice. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Flowerchain-.../dp/B007I4BK78 Last edited by Toby Frost; 18th April 2012 at 11:39 PM.
