| Hi. Hello, chronicle people. I don't have much to say about myself but I do want to make my presence known... and I want to be one step closer to my 20 posts. That pretty much reveals my intent for being here. My life is in the pen and the keyboard. I am obsessed with my world that I have been building since my first year in High School, as well as the characters that the central story (the first of many, I hope) incorporates. My interests include mockery and cynicism, and being completely open about it. --No need to warn me about this being a positive community, I have toured the forums and several threads already and don't plan on trolling, flaming, or anything I wouldn't do in any other forum I am a part of. I like to maintain a reputation [on the internet].-- When I am not writing or reading for class, I enjoy wasting my time playing Dota 2 or watching anime (my favorites include the Hellsing OVAs, Elfen Lied, Darker than Black, among others). My goal as a writer is to write a fantastical world with the quality of the real world, but with plots that entertain me. My first goal in my writing is to impress myself before others, and being hard to impress I find this a challenging goal. I want all to know that I am approachable on any matter. I crave criticism beyond my classroom. I am not a very active forum member, I admit, but I have hopes this one will be productive to my future. Thank you for your acceptance. |

| resident pedantissimo | Re: Hi. My turn to push the writing challenges! If you go to "aspiring writers", check out the "writing challenges" subforum, you'll find the 300 word challenge number 5, and the april 75 word... read first post in each, it should be fairly clear. It seems always to be my turn to warn newcomers about the dangers of addiction, total loss of anything that might be construed as "free time" (the bits previously occupied with irrelevancies like sleeping, eating, personal hygiene, details like that), severe risk of malnutrition and a quasi-certainty of leaving the zone outsiders name "sanity". Not that people here are anything but polite and friendly (the heads of those who behaved outherwise can be seen on spikes along the wall of "general reading"); indeed, that is a large part of the danger. But do be welcome. Survival here for considerable periods of time is quite possible: just look at me. Or, better still, don't. But why twenty posts? Links are at fifteen, critiques at thirty, as far as I can remember. And we do like people getting involved with the community for itself, not just coming in for their personal agendas. Actually, you may well find we're quite rewarding even when we're not improving your writing standards (big grin smiley, like a but all the teeth filed to points).See you around. (Now to see how many other replies were posted while I was typing.) |

| Dramatically tremendous | Re: Hi. I remember saying the very same thing, way way back in October. 30 posts and I'm - hooked as it turned out. They haven't been able to get rid of me since, not even when Chrispy decides to bamboozle me with science. (I still think the musical worm was a goer...) Welcome to the chrons, I hope you like our little community/collection of *tries to think of appropriate word* allsorts? That might do. |

| Truth. Order. Moderation. | Re: Hi. Hello and Welcome to the Chrons! We look forward to seeing you around and about in Aspiring Writers. One small word of warning, though. The 30 posts required for Critiques, which is where I guess you're heading, is 30 counted posts. In your travels around the site, you'll see that not every sub-forum accretes posts -- Playrooms for one, Introductions for another -- so don't be misled and try and post in Critiques when you have written 30. You have to wait until the number under your name gets there. Also don't be tempted to get there quickly with brief junk-like posts -- join in with us, and get to know us properly, and the 30 will arrive before you know it. And while I'm sure you've already been there, do go and spend some times in Critiques and find out how we do things. Critiques of the kind we dispense here can come as a bit of a shock to people unused to it -- it's best to strap on the armour and prepare for it in advance! |
