Well, it's not so much required as it is traditional.

Generally a bunch of people greet the new challenge with a rousing cheer of "oh noooo, whatever shall I do, I'll never think of anything" and then within six hours (or sometimes six minutes) they post a fabulous story. The rest of us put off writing a story (or at least posting it) till closer to the end of the month, so as to take full advantage of the time allotted for groaning.

Oh, and there are a few misfits who actually like any given challenge, with the possible exception of Chrispy's ode to Kipling. (Ok, mosaix liked it, and I did, too, but we still groaned anyway. As I said, it's traditional.

I'll second TacticalLoco's 'ouch'...

Thanks, Karn (I think).

LOL! Maybe PM has spoiled us too much. Being 200% positive and all.
I guess I can take the hit as long as it's accurate and constructive criticism.

This is the second time I've heard of this one. Sounds like Chrispy definately gave everyone something to think about.

Really, if it wasn't for all the dismemberment in the post-apocalyptic lit/movies/games I'd could enjoy it. It just gets kind of gory for my tastes.

First time trying the challenges, even planning on the 300 word. Just not quite sure of the ideas yet. I really like the challenges (at least reading them)

Re: Discussion -- 75 Word Challenge -- APRIL

I'm now wondering if it was Mr. or Rudyard lol And somehow now have an image of an elephant with an exceedingly-good, pink french fancy being chased by a crocodile and wishing i'd written that instead lol.

My MO is usually to go eeek what on earth when I see the genre and title. Writing it doesn't take long after the initial, umph!

Have four potentials written up and condensified into 75 words. Boy did that take work. Decisions, decisions...

Do I go for humor? Drama? Realism? Argh! Aaron the pirate hates decisions.

Loved your story, Scott! Little Pest indeed. I admire humorous Post-Apoc stories.

Hero Syndrome does exist and is not that heroic in reality - but I shall say no more for fear of falling foul of the rules.
