Marussia Formula 1 test driver Maria de Villota suffered 'life-threatening injuries' in her accident that took place at Duxford airfield on Tuesday, according to the local ambulance service.

Apparently she suffered injuries after a straight-line test. It seems that she collided with the back of a trailer on her return. Let's hope she pulls through.

Latest news is that Maria is conscious and undergoing further medical tests. Let's hope that this is a good sign.

Yeah, hopefully she'll make a full recovery. Only a read a little about this but it sounds like she just did an installation lap. Bit weird to have an accident on a sighter.

Sadly, Maria has lost her right eye but at least she's alive. My thoughts to her and her family.

As for me, I'm up early and packed. Just about ready to head off for Silverstone. It looks like it's going to be a wet one so I'm glad I've got a a seat in a covered stand (last corner). Here's hoping for another good race.

Yeah I heard it could well be soggy. Could make picking a winner more difficult.

Hope you have a nice time. Maybe Olivia will even pay for the hotel room this time?

Good British GP, the rain on qualy was quite unnerving for the teams it seemed but none the less the winner deserved it and I am glad Lewis didnt feature.

I think the team got his strategy wrong. The middle stint seemed very brief.

Alonso did a great job but was brought in a bit too early. However, the team really couldn't know that given the lack of dry running. Webber's been the most consistent driver this year, I think.

The Mercedes looked a handful. I wonder if they had a wet or compromise wet-dry set-up. Schumacher did well to end up sixth.

Ferraris poor strategy has cost Alonso again. I am an Alonso fan as I am Vettel and Webber and Raikonnen. Any of them getting the championship is fine by me. Schumi found some pace near the end and Schumi is always a fave in my books.

Whilst I agree Ferrari made the wrong call regarding the timing of the last stop it was very hard for them to judge. There's been almost no dry running and judging how long a compound would last must be nigh on impossible.

Just got back from Silverstone. Friday was horrendous (90 minute delays in and out). Saturday was not too bad. A good race on Sunday in beautiful sunshine made up for all the hassle. I'd have loved to have seen Alonso take it but I can't begrudge Mark Webber his win. He did the business.

PS - Just want to add that the Red Arrows display was almost as good as the race. I take my hat off to those flyboys

I'd like to agree with you - they've been due to do a display over Southampton twice recently (the Jubilee and P&O's anniversary) but had to cancel both due to the weather...

It must be said that Silverstone (and everywhere else) was tremendously unlucky that the UK suffered a monsoon over the race weekend.

Well, the uploading is different on flickr since the last time I used it and the 'share function just doesn't seem to work for me. Don't know why, I'm doing what I used to do (copy and paste in insert image but not working now. I'm stumped.

Those photos look like late 80s/early 90s cars (just before I started watching). I'm not really au fait with F1 history though, I must say.
