Enter the Beast

Enter the Beast...well actually no it's me but I do perform a one man play as Aleister Crowley. I'm John Burns, I live in Scotland. I've done some acting and playwriting, a bit of stand up comedy and I have almost finished a book about my climbing career. Think Bill Bryson meets Tom Weir.

Now I want to start writing fantasy fiction. I'm very serious about writing and I'll be starting to send out short stories soon. I'd be keen to hear about where I can read winning short stories and good competitions to enter.

If I sound arrogant it's because I am...well maybe just determined and I know I've a hell of a lot to learn. say hello, be glad to hear from you.

John

I like arrogant people, makes it easier for me as an introvert to get to know if I like them or not

Re: Enter the Beast

Hi Hope,

thanks for getting back to me. i'll check out the lounge. Almost finished the 2nd draft of my book about my mountaineering career. It's been fun but also a lot of work and it's kept me back from fantasy writing which is what I really want to do.

Re: Enter the Beast

Hey thanks for saying hello.

Crowley is a fascinating character though. I'm going to write him in to some of my stories.

Re: Enter the Beast

At last I've finally finished the second draft of my book about mountaineering. Finally I can get down to some fantasy writing. i don't ever want to write about mountains again although maybe I'll set some stories in them

Crowley is in my 75 word challenge this month lol

Nice to meet you John. If you have a Kindle there are some fun sci-fi/fantasy short stories on there but doubt they are award winning - I just like em

Hello and welcome to Chronicles, John. I'm sure it'll...grow on you.

I don't know anything about "mountaineering," but I did a little bit of rock climbing when I was younger.

Re: Enter the Beast

Managed to post a we story on my blog. Noticed that when you copy and paste the system has the annoying habit of missing the spaces between words. Happy to hear thoughts on my blog entry.

Re: Enter the Beast

Welcome to the Chrons.

The missing spaces between words has been noted, and we're looking into it at the moment.

Meanwhile, as I've remarked elsewhere, please don't confuse the blog system with Critiques -- if you want feedback then you must go to the latter not the former.
