It's overused, apparently, to make your character appear ordinary. Or so I read, and as it was on the internet, it must be true.

Because everything on the internet is true!

I might have to change the description of one character then, I call her hair 'mousey'. guess she will just be plain old ordinary brown.

what about chestnut?

Don't do it. We don't encourage suicide. Remember the wording under your avatar: 'still alive'.

Ahahah! You see what he did there? He's equating my character with the real me. Actually, the character kind of HAS to die; his world DID collide with another planet and shatter, after all.

Any hero of Hollywood action movies can survive a minor inconvenience like that with nothing more than a flesh wound!

Almost all female characters I create get deleted... the only reason I have two women in my book is because I have two daughters...

And before you ask "Where's your love interest then?" It's in the form of a gay hermit.

Yes, but he's not a Hollywood hero-merely a divine being who lost all his followers.

I'm not sure why, but I seem to be the very opposite, I have one or two male protagonists surrounded by a harem of females, lucky them

(BTW, not really a harem. Although there certainly is the possibility if I want to take it that way. ).

gay hermit... why does that sound a bit creepy.

Well, you have to write what you know and for me women are a mistery.

And as for a gay hermit being creepy... he is... and yes, he will do that thing your wishing he wouldn't when you're asleep. And then draw your naked image on paper created from the hair of dead enemies. But he's one of the good guys, mostly.

Jaso'deca - High Priest of the fourth quadrant.

Let's face it, your Surtitle 'Deca' didn't mean anything, and while the other high priests actually have a role in the war, you were just a lingering, if quite witty, add-on to the King's Ball. I had high hopes you would turn to the side of good and join the resistance, but there just wasn't enough room. And to be quite frank, I'm sick of writing about you Priests!

I'm picturing her as beautiful already!

Just in case I've overblown the mousey thing, I read it once on one of those lists of cliches. I'd written the character's hair as mousey about two weeks beforehand, so it was as if they'd read my mind, or I'd fallen into a huge trap.

In other words, my information may not have the full weight of evidence behind it.

Re: Salute your deleted characters here

see mousey; you can have little brown mouse, slightly grey mouse, white mice. to write it off as a generic description, but it seems a little harsh.... I worry more about how it makes the character seems like they're invisible...

When I wrote it first, I wanted my character to be nondescript, an every-teen. If you want them to stand out physically, you usually go for striking black or blonde (or white). If you want them to appear unobtrusive, "mousey" gets used a lot -- apparently. Once again, it was only one site, but I fitted the bill so well that I assumed there was an amount of truth in it.
