All the same, my sympathies lie fully with the Occupy Wall St/St Paul's people. They can't articulate exactly what the problem is, but just know in their bones that something's wrong, wrong, wrong with it all. It's a house of cards, Dave ... | |

| Re: Cash for Scrap metal banned Thank you very much Dave for the defence of what I said but I don't think RJM was all that wrong. The rain forest abuse is a valid point. Business will respond to customer demand at all times. If as customers we refused to deal with companies that were raping our natural resources then very quickly things would change. More than likely it would cost us all a little more which is the problem, hence the Tesco's of the world. Yes business can be blamed for a lot of the worlds problems, but business needs customers and we are the customers. Vague I accept. But if we all complained more then things would change. Most people don't care and business is a reflection of that. I like the Wall St protests, will they make a difference, I'm not sure. Should they make a difference, yes very much so. Business is only a reflection of human values, even taking greed into account. Yes a house of cards, but its a very big deck! |

| Never Sure | Re: Cash for Scrap metal banned That's one I love to hate. Just bought a box of 'Happy Eggs' from Tesco. Didn't get to ask the chickens. Truth is though, I could have bought genuine free-range eggs from a health shop but they cost more. How much more? 50/70p? Didn't even think about it at the time. Just saving money on groceries. Those 70p add up quite fast. But writing this now makes me feel guilty about it ... How did this get from scrap metal to eggs? Last edited by RJM Corbet; 21st April 2012 at 03:31 PM. |

| Re: Cash for Scrap metal banned A bit of a leap ok. Don't feel too guilty about your eggs we all try and save the pennies here and there. But a good example all the same, free range is good for the little birdies but the health shop might be an egg too far! Those decisions are what drive business choice. If we all bought free range then there would only be free range eggs. It gets far more complicated when we move on to bigger items, but thats my general drift ok. |

| Never Sure | Re: Cash for Scrap metal banned However one fears for the eventual stability of a society in which the merchant class alone exceeds the warrior, artisan and farmer class all put together? 'Merchant' including, for the definition, bankers, advertising, and also myriad 'money market' type occupations? Last edited by RJM Corbet; 21st April 2012 at 05:33 PM. |

| Re: Cash for Scrap metal banned Not at all RJM, let the accountants take over and the world and it will be a well ordered society, with everything in its place. Time to dust off my old world conquest plans, opportunity knocks again..... |
