| Comment Giver | Re: New movie The Wolverine It's (allegedly) going to be based around the Chris Claremont and Frank Miller limited series from back at the start of the 80's, which is probably one of the most defining stories in Wolverine's history. (And is superb) Whether they manage to actually catch the flavour of that series is another matter entirely... |

| Comment Giver | Re: New movie The Wolverine Well everything did go on the back burner thanks to the success of the other Marvel movies and the dip in the X-Franchise (X-3 and the first Wolverine movie), but the success of First Class has put the light back on the X-Men and a few of the possible solo movies. I think the article I read generally inferred it all comes down to how well the next three X-Films do (Wolverine 2, First Class 2 and Deadpool) As I typed that I'm suddenly not convinced that Gambit isn't meant to be in the Deadpool film.... |

| Comment Giver | Re: New movie The Wolverine I certainly agree with you, much as I'd hate to disagree, I can't. Wolverine stank. Badly. But it made money so I guess they want to keep going, especially while they have a big name like Hugh Jackman attached. X-Men did brilliant business so a sequel was almost inevitable. Your suggestion of a reboot and start again... definitely. |

| Re: New movie The Wolverine Quote:
I don't look at First Class as having ANY storyline link to the comics. The power sets and most of the personalities are correct (excluding Shaw's powers), however its entirely apparent that absolutely ZERO attempt is being made to make a movie copy of the comic series (at least the one set in the 616 Marvel Universe). To which i must say THANK-YOU Matthew Vaughn and Brian Singer. To others... Rogue seemed to be the correct age for her original appearance in the comics, she was much younger than the mainstream x-men... but intro'd as older than Kitty --- she SHOULD be Iceman's age at least roughly. Cutting Wolverine out of all future X-Men films would be the best thing they could possibly do. Aside from the fact that he's absolutely the MOST boring character in the x-verse, He's also mischaracterised - BADLY - as a leader and heart-of-the-team character. Hugh Jackman is perhaps the WORST person imaginable to portray him - he has NONE of the berserker fury that Logan manages to keep so barely under control. . He's soft, and never for one moment can i forget that he's the same man who played Peter Allen on broadway...and did it so well. Hugh now plays the exact same character in EVERY film he's in. there's no cinematic versatility, and his broadway characters are also all of a type. | |
