Oh, wow! I didn't expect this at all, and I'm really really delighted; right up there with Moonbat's conga dance. I stayed up to see, I knew I wouldn't sleep.

Congratulations, springs! I'd have to check, but I think this is the first time that we've all been completely correct in saying that the bar was set too high from the start! I have to admit that I hadn't realized your story was shaped in a cross -- I did know that it was a headstone, but hadn't noticed the cross (not entirely sure how I could miss that) until it was pointed out. That just made it even better!

Wow, another vote! Thanks, Moonbat - it certainly did make a difference to me, if not to the competition!

Congrats, springs. You set the bar very high from the start. Teresa's was a close second for mine, with HareBrain a hair's (a hare's hair's?) breadth behind her.

Good win, springs. I wanted to vote, but my mood's been awful lately and I felt like I couldn't even read any of the entries, and of course it's not fair to vote on a quick whim.


I'll see how things go for February, I doubt things'll be different.
