Slowly catching up with stuff, that's me posted, a blog and some comments to deal with.

Another dark one from Perp. I loved it and I completely failed to spot the twist coming at the end.

Ah, two more entries to give a quick review on.

Chrispenycate - Wow, that was quite a grim drama you have relayed. The darkest tale yet!

Perpetual Man - Human survival at it's extreme, in typical human manner.

I just read it. Very descriptive and excellent like Chrispenycate's. I enjoy a good fantasy war tale.

Every story so far is spectacular! With only 300 words to use, we all do our best to stuff them with creamy goodness and chewy chunks of imaginative flair.

Creative thinking P.Man. You crafted an idea quite carefully and simple enough that you could really describe it within your word limit. I liked the concept, and the twist ending that basically leads me to believe all of Earth's history will repeat itself, was clever.

Or perhaps I am not reading it quite right. Maybe this is Earth's origin?

My impression was very much the latter Phoenix. I interpreted the last few lines to be saying the preceding story was the death of the Martians around the time the Earth was dominated by the dinosaurs. But of course I may be wrong!

Starbeast, thank you for your encouraging words. I scribbled it out as quick as it would come to me, after reading the other entries and not seeing a single princess tower. I hope no one else got as hung up on the names as I did.

I knew there was a reason I generally post early; if I wait until I see the quality of the later entries, I'd never put mine up at all ; fantastic Perp, HW and TE (I liked the little slipped in Narnia reference)

Back to the drawing board... TE's story is doing so much better than wot I intended, and I still had concerns about my idea coming from a short story of decades ago... now, where I put that inspiration? (Funny how it means 'deep breath' at the same time, innit?)

I'm with you there Springs. If I'd seen all the excellent entries I would have at least trembled before posting (I did anyway but never mind!) and may well have just run away and hidden in a corner.

Great entries from HW and TE loved them both!

Well, I've posted... it's speculative fiction, all right...
