| Comment Giver | Re: Discussion October SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE Bob, very hard for me to respond to anything at the moment, trapped as I am within the bounds of electronic incarceration... Tom, there is very little I can add to what everyone has said, just to say that I am sorry to hear about your sad loss. From what you have said she in the past she was very ill, so her suffering is over and she is at peace now. |

In any case, many congrats to The Unpronounceable Name. The story was on my short list, as well, if I had ever got around to voting. | |

| Re: Discussion October SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE According to the best IPA I could find, it's apparently pronounced something like "Cool Loch". Apparently, it's a character from early Welsh folklore! I've muddled the pronunciations together from this encyclopaedia entry and the wiki entry... So who knows? I loved that entry, so I'm pretty glad he won. There were some excellent entries all around, though. Last edited by Ashcroft; 30th October 2011 at 06:50 PM. Reason: Link |

| bringer of cake | Re: Discussion October SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE Sorry Cul - just realised that I didn't congratulate you yesterday. Well done - it would definitely made it to my short list, had I had the chance to make one. I've just had a read through of them all, and there are some really really excellent stories there - but the one I probably would have voted for was HareBrain's. I read that one before going away, and it kinda stayed with me. Can I also remind everyone that there is also a day left for the photography competition? The theme is Red - go have a look: October Photo Challenge - PLEASE READ FIRST POST |

| Dehhh de de deh | Re: Discussion October SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE A little late here, but I'm also sorry for your loss, Tom, and I hope we'll see you about next month for the challenge. I know myself that this sort of thing can be a useful distraction. |

| Thomas M. Grimes | Re: Discussion October SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE Thanks to all for the thoughts and comments. I am definitely looking forward to diving into writing and creativity as distractions and ways of processing the situation, so am keen to see what next month's contest brings! I am sorry I didn't get to vote though as this month had the strongest collection of entries I've seen since I've been here. I've not given out kudos simply because there were so many brilliant pieces, and I know choosing a winner would have been tough for me (but I like to honor my obligations and vote if I take part, no matter how tough a choice it is!) I'm also hoping to be in the photography contest this month and maybe the 300 word challenge too, though have opted out of the write a novel in a month heh! I think I have set myself enough of a challenge with those contests. I am glad to be back here in The Chrons again and be able to visit regularly - let the next battle commence (in a day or so at any rate!) |

| Thomas M. Grimes | Re: Discussion October SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE Thanks Ashcroft - I do welcome the support from the Chrons, but I don't want to take over this thread, I'm happy for everyone to message me directly too. It does mean a lot to have sympathies from the folks here as this place means a lot to me. And still a day to go and a three month wait - oh no! I will have to see if I can indeed rush something together, that will be fun in itself (though I can't speak for the quality that will emerge!) Looking at the thread, I must also clear my mind of the weeping angels... don't blink! |

| Re: Discussion October SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE Yup, Tom, that's what I thought when I saw the picture, too! And it got even more intense when I made it my screensaver as well as my desktop picture, in the setting where it spins in as a photograph and keeps tiling until it fills the screen with pictures. I kept looking at it and thinking, "Has it moved? Has it changed?" Sheesh! Very sorry about your mother. I lost mine six years ago, and there's not a day goes by that I don't think of her. Keep yourself busy. |

| П | Re: Discussion October SEVENTY-FIVE WORD WRITING CHALLENGE Congrats Culhwch. Sorry I couldn't vote this month. A snow storm two weeks ago took out two thirds of northern Bulgaria's rural electric lines, brought down trees, collapsed roofs. Spent the last fortnight cutting my way out. I had to come into town to find a hotspot to log on today. For the forseeable future, I'm going to have to rely on this hotspot or an internet cafe in the city, both of which mean driving there. So I'll not be around much for a while. Oh well, least I have firewood for the winter. |
