| Re: 1.10 Game of Thrones - Fire and Blood This was outstanding episode from the shot of a bloody Ice at the beginning to Dany Unburnt and her dragons at the end. More great dialogue between Varys and Littlefinger. The scene with Tywin and Tyrion was so well done, I also wet myself. We saw Jaqen, or at least a hooded figure in the back of the cart that Yoren threatens to put Arya in. Gendry reappears. The King in the North scene was beautifully done. The scene in the crypt with Osha, Bran, Rickon and Shaggy Dog was very good. Loved seeing Rickon again. Sam is done exactly as I pictured, especially when he tried to stand-up to Jon. The Old Bear and the Rangers leaving the Wall! The actress playing Dany has really come into the role well as has Sophie Turner as Sansa. The Houd wiping the blood off her lip was a nice touch. Mad King Joff. |

| Re: 1.10 Game of Thrones - Fire and Blood Excellent!! Dany's scene where she suffocated Drogo was amazing then her next scenes with the funeral pyre and awaking with the Dragons were the best. The final shots of Jon and the Rangers riding out past the wall and Yoren with his "recruits" starting their journey were great too. |

| Re: 1.10 Game of Thrones - Fire and Blood I think epis 9 and 10 were two of the best hours of television ever, equalling anything I can remember including the best of The Sopranos, Dexter, Deadwood, etc. There's already talk about multiple emmy nominations for the series, which will be well deserved. Cat grieving for Ned, then going to her son who needed her more than she needed to grieve. Tyrion becoming Hand Jon's ride, Sam's courage, the boys catching him and reciting the oath to him. I got goosebumps just writing that. Dany killing her beloved Drogo Miri Maz Duur's singing, then screams, as Dany walked into the fire KING IN THE NORTH Arya Sansa saying the line out loud that was only thought in the book Joffrey being established as the sadistic monster that he is. Your hands or your tongue? Jon and the men of the Watch riding out much in the same way the season began, except to the north this time, and to the unknown. The only headshaker for me was Pycelle. Was that just to establish that he's not the doddering old fool that he would appear to be, combined with and post sex infohump? great, great, great episode |

| Re: 1.10 Game of Thrones - Fire and Blood Fitting end for the season. I enjoyed watching it, though in my opinion it did not top Baelor, which is the best episode in the entire season, simply because of the amount of action, suspense and obviously the schocker of Ned's execution, who is still my favorite character. There is a slight vacuum now, but as I said in the 1.09 thread, Robb is evolving into a respectable character. The scene where he was proclaimed "King of the North" gave me a warm feeling inside. I imagined before watching the episode that it was going to be Total War after the news of Ned's beheading reached Robb and his bannermen but everything was quite mellow, and heads remained cool, mostly because of the foresight of Catelyn I reckon. Tywin finally showing some semblance of respect for Tyrion's intellect, and the importance of him being his son was nice, though he had to ruin that moment with another draconian demand. Good thing Tyrion's has decided to do as he wishes. It's going to be cool seeing the latter boss around that madboy King Joffrey as Hand of the King. I also hope the next season will feature some serious real-politiks between the intellectual heavyweights in the form of Tyrion, Little Finger and the Eunuch, though i'm not sure if any of that is even in the books. I didn't like Khal Drogo's demise. Most of the series he was somekind of a superwarrior only to be defeated and rendered useless by an infected wound and a mad witch. I would love to have seen him enter the battlefield and fight an enemy army, but in such a scenario Dany would have never entered that fire and the dragons eggs would have never hatched. The Nightwatch's pre-emptive expedition is very fascinating. The first episode introduced us to the Whitewalkers, and this really sucked me into the story and convinced me to continue watching, after that other story lines grabbed my attention, but we never really went back to what's behind the wall other than certain characters discussing myths and legends. Can't wait to see what they encounter. I fear i'm going to suffer from the classic withdrawal syndrome especially since season 2 won't air until next year or something, but I just received my copy of Game of Thrones, and hopefully in the coming weeks the rest of the series. I think i'm going to stretch these books as far as I can; one book a month would land me somewhere in December 2011, close enough for me. |

I must say I am glad you and others are perplexed as I was over Pycelle's momentary youth dance. I sure did not pick that up in the book. Maybe he feels many years younger just after a visit with a woman such as Roz?

I also thought this was a great episode. After having my doubts about Sansa, I now have high hopes for her. Robb was good too. I won't bother mentioning the others cos they've always been pretty great.

| Re: 1.10 Game of Thrones - Fire and Blood Great, great episode. I thought the dragons looked superb! Really tied up everything from the book nicely. Not sure about the Pycelle scene either, it felt out of place in this episode. Now the long wait for Season 2 begins... |

But I'm in spoiler territory, so I'll divert. And, I also, completely agree with Ser Imp. Well said.

| Re: 1.10 Game of Thrones - Fire and Blood For one split second I lost my mind, and wanted Sansa to push Joffrey to a screaming death, and to Hell with how the story is supposed to go. Gosh, that's horrible, but so is he. I think I liked her more in that scene than I have ever liked her. The actors made me feel something. On a different note, Pycelle made me LOL, and for the very first time, I actually enjoyed Roz' contribution. Go figure. |

| Re: 1.10 Game of Thrones - Fire and Blood I thought the dragons looked great. They were baby dragons so obviously they looked like lizards. Imagine them 20 times bigger and its definatly a dragon! |
