NewCon Press 5th Birthday: free drink and fiction!

Incredible though it may seem (I know it does to me), Time Pieces, our first publication, was released as long ago as 2006... The mathematicians among you will already have spotted that this means NewCon Press has reached the ripe old age of 5.

To celebrate this momentous event, I'm hosting a party at a London pub, to which you are cordially invited.

The event will also mark the release of our latest title: A Glass of Shadow, a short story collection by Liz Williams with an introduction by Tanith Lee.

Details are as follows:

The Cittie of Yorke pub, Holborn
Saturday July 9th from 1.00pm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cittie_of_Yorke

Attendees can look forward to:

Free alcohol (until my money runs out)
A free limited edition booklet of original fiction from various Newcon Press authors
The launch of NewCon Press' latest title: A Glass of Shadow by Liz Williams
Special party-crash bargains on several current Newcon Press titles
The opportunity to meet and chat to a host of NewCon Press authors and contributors.

Those who have confirmed attendance to date include:

Liz Williams
Tanith Lee
Keith Brooke
Eric Brown
Andrew Hook
Stephen Palmer
Sarah Pinborough
Ian Watson

So please, feel free to come and make merry!

Anyone is welcome to simply turn up on the day, though if you do know for certain in advance, please let me know, as this will give me some idea of how much money I'll need to put behind the bar!

Many thanks, and hope to see you on the 9th.

I'd love to come but it is unlikely that I will be down south at that time.

Ian: It appears that I can get to London and back without having to lose a limb to pay for the fare.

Put me down for a definite maybe.

I will confirm when the ticket is booked.

Excellent news. Look forward to seeing you, TEIN.

Chopper, see you at alt.fition, Vertigo, sorry you can't make it.

I'm delighted to say that one further author has confirmed they'll be coming:

Storm Constantine.

Spooky! I've just come off the phone from talking to Storm when I see this post, Stephen.

Storm is as wonderful as ever.

Dammit, a friend is scheduled to get married that day... but it is her third wedding... maybe she won't notice if I'm not there - you don't get that many luminaries together under one roof that often! Would sooo much like to meet Tanith Lee ( and free beer....!!). How long will it go on? I'm 30 minutes from London, it occurs to me I could go to the wedding and be in Holborn by 3.15... back for the last part of the reception late saturday evening.

Now that's what I call dedication! The honest answer is that I've no idea. The pub is open all afternoon. Tanith's coming up from Hastings just for the day, Liz Williams from Glastonbury, so I doubt if either will be hurrying off. The intention is to be there for the afternoon, but I haven't set any finishing time as such... It's very much a case of play it by ear.

Boneman: I bet they have more than one function room. Switch the venue for the wedding.

Congratulations and Happy Birthday Ian. I shall give you a hug when I see you at the 2012 Eastercon in London. I would like a copy of A Glass of Shadow though. How do i do this?

Thanks, Patrick; it would be great to see you again if you can make it!

Nesa, I'll be putting up details of the book very shortly, both on the NewCon Press website and on the Chrons. When I do, I'll PM you about it. I know I'm biased, but I have to say this is a fabulous collection of stories, Editing them was a joy; I'd almost forgotten just how good a writer Liz is.
