| Brian G. Turner | GRRM thread removed Just to let you know I've removed a thread from the Games of Thrones board. It was started by a member who joined simply to post a link to a blog "review" criticising the series. However, the "review" was nothing more than a piece intended to create controversy and stir up fans of the books and the TV series. It's a marketing technique called "baiting", and the piece ended with a clear advertising message. The post should have been caught by the anti-spam filters, but managed to get through, otherwise would have been binned on sight. This is not least because of the commercial intent of the piece, as well as the intention to upset our community. I don't normally like removing posts that already have replies, and don't normally mention much about moderation actions here. However, because I figured a few people had seen it, and would therefore notice its absence, I thought best to mention why and explain why I acted to remove the piece. |

| Re: GRRM thread removed As some of those replies were from Chronners calling for the link not to be followed (I don't think the phrase "Don't feed the troll" was used, but it would have been entirely appropriate), I think you were entirely justified in your action. ![]() |
