DISCUSSION -- The 75 word Challenge, April 2011

In an effort to avoid both the disbelief which would undoubtedly follow if it were posted on April Fool's Day, and the risk of dreadful calamity arising from the 13th Challenge appearing on a Friday, the new April Challenge is up several hours early!

Inspiration has been taken from the forthcoming Royal Nuptials -- to which I have, inexplicably, not yet been invited -- so this is a real challenge. No easy theme and genre this time. No sirree. *contemplates the thought that she may single-handledly kill the Challenge dead with this one...*

Good luck, everyone. And despite -- or rather because of -- the genre, keep it clean. (That goes double for you, Mouse!)

The observant among you will notice that we've codified the rules relating to the Challenges -- here Rules for the Writing Challenges. Read and inwardly digest.

... and not a spaghetti tree or flying penguin in sight...

Ah come on! Clean is my middle name.

(I was expecting the theme to be 'gonads' or something after reading this thread first!)

Wow, that was unexpected, both the theme and genre! They should definitely provide a change of pace.

(Wishing I hadn't posted my "extra" story with the Cinderella theme several months ago.)

What makes me think that Snow White and Prince Charming may be due for a rough honeymoon this month?

Nice one Judge! Interesting theme, and lovely focused genre.

Can't wait to see what stories will be produced . . . . my mind is ticking over already, but I'm determined not to post until after my holiday next week. I'm going to really think about it this time

There are just two words I have to say about this one:

On any other forum, I might expect Paranormal Romance to elicit somewhere in the vicinity of 40 vampire stories. Here, I think we will see more variety.

I guess I can't run my writing pass my wife this month. I am sure it will open a can of worms.

Indeed, TE. I think Her Honor has thrown us for a loop this time though.....

I thought you'd like it, Karn...

Have a good holiday, Storm. Make sure you take pen and paper for when inspiration strikes while you're away.

Well

I'll try to think something up but there's to be no promises, Paranormal Romance might be easy enough as a theme, but when it's a genre with a secondary theme like fairy tale ending.....*Shakes head in bemusement*

Thank you Judge. Am hoping that sun, sea, swimming pools and exhausted kids will give me a chance to de-stress, and let the inspiration flow. I do have an idea already but am sitting on it this time

Oh no, you can't say that! I was thinking April was my last one for a wee while. (Admittedly, I thought that a couple times before, but couldn't help myself when I saw the themes!) I'm not sure I can do 'off the cuff' this time.
