Re: Lovecraft Leatherbound Edition

That is fine, but how to identify the corrected edition in online stores? I guess there is no way...

As far as I know, no. However, the earlier printing is supposed to have sold out, so chances are pretty good that you'll get the right one (however, again, there are no guarantees that there are no old copies floating around some stores).

Re: Lovecraft Leatherbound Edition

Hmm, seems that this is not the case, because it is available everywhere... Probably they still have some old copies. I will wait some time and try contact the seller or buy the Gollanzc books, which supposedly have fewer errors.

If you hear about any online bookstore selling "your" edition, please mention it here.

I wouldn't go for the Gollancz at this point; see my reply in the other thread....

Must keep waiting. I called one of the bigger BnN on a rich side of town and they don't have it yet, still have one published from last year. Ah well...argh.

Re: Lovecraft Leatherbound Edition

Thank you, Worthington. I won't buy the Gollanzc books. Seems that is best to wait. It may take few months... I see that the book is out of stock on Amazon.com, which may mean that when is available again it will be the corrected edition. No guarantee, though.

Lord, no! Not the Gollancz books!

OK, here's what I heard from Stefan at B&N when he contacted me to tell me that my freebie copies are shipping:

Quote:
For people ordering on line, the odds are virtually 100% in their favor that the copy they order will be the corrected second printing. When the second printing hit our warehouse, the first printing was down to about 600 copies, all of which were store stock. We set aside a specific amount from the warehouse for our online sales arm, and that comes from the warehouse, never from the stores.

If they want to wait a few weeks just to play it safe, they can. The stock will start moving out of the warehouse and into the stores very shortly.

Re: Lovecraft Leatherbound Edition

Amazon.com is still not restocked with the book, but Amazon.co.uk has only 6 copies left (Yesterday were 8 copies left) and says that more are coming. Hopefully the new copies will be the corrected edition, but who knows...

Re: Lovecraft Leatherbound Edition

Thanks for the news Ningauble. I have waited this long, might as well wait a month or two more.

By the way, may I ask what's the cool package?

I'd say that "cool" is very much an understatement....

You are very welcome, young man. And thank you for all the work you have done with Grandpa's text. I wish I had had such a fine proofreader for THE TANGLED MUSE! The book that I am dedicating to you, THE STRANGE DARK ONE, is not to be publish'd next month after all--and that is a good thing. Three books a year is enough already. I don't know what's up with GATHERED DUST AND OTHERS, what was supposed to be out this month, as I have yet to sign the signature sheets, This gives me a chance to just relax for the rest of the year. I ain't writing a new book for a while cos I'll have FIVE BOOKS out next year, three new collections and two pb reprints. So I will have lots of time to peruse the Lovecraft Leatherbound edition, which I will drive down to ye local B&N to purchase in ye flesh next month--and I will unseal it, if it is wrapped in plastic (I love being wrapped in plastic, who doesn't?) in the store to make certain that it is an edition in which your name appears. I love that book as is, even in the corrupted editions--it is such a wonderful one-volume collection, with some fun rare items such as "The History of the Necronomicon." I forgot to mention this new corrected edition in my recent video with S. T. Joshi, alas! But once I have the book in paw, I shall extoll it afore me webcam at MrWilum.

Well, even though I work best with a text to compare against, I have been known to do proofing without as well...

Well, if you wait for something good it always turns out to have been worth the wait.

My goodness! That's a lot of books!

Looking forward to it! I have a spare copy of the old edition lying around that I intend to donate to the local college library (along with a copy of my errata list, of course!). They need more Lovecraft in their collections.
