Re: X Men First Class

Spike/spyke is another of the complex mutant blood line i fear.

Quote:
The comic book X-Statix featured an African-American mutant with the same codename and abilities as Spyke; however, this version of Spyke was not related to Storm, had a very different personality (modeled after popular gangsta rappers), and is a completely separate character. Another similar character appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand, but as a Caucasian member of the Brotherhood of Mutants. He is listed as Spike in the credits, but is not mentioned by name in the film, and has no dialogue. When Wolverine invades the forest base of the Brotherhood, Spike is one of the characters that attacks him, demonstrating abilities identical to those shown by the Spyke character before he lost control of his mutation. In the canon Storm has a teenaged cousin, not a nephew, named David Evans, but he is apparently too young to display any mutant abilities.

Yeah, that's who I thought Spike was in the film, so how come IMDB says it's this other dude?!

Re: X Men First Class

Spyke (apparently they spelled it like that) was never in the comics, which explains why I could not place him.

Created specifically for the TV show, because they felt they needed more diversity in the ranks. It does seem that they have taken the powers of the the comic book X-Men Marrow, and given them to her.

Re: X Men First Class

Now I know Marrow, see. As she was in the Wolverine and the X-Men cartoon. (Which I'd recommend by the way, even if it was only one series, it was really good!) And I've seen her and played as her in a Marvel vs Capcom Xbox game. (*sigh* I should be a bloke shouldn't I.)

From what X-wiki says he should be easy to spot by his milk mustache, as he constantly drinks milk to replenish the calcium lost when shooting the bone spikes

Blimey! Why didn't they just keep Marrow?! I've never seen Evolution (though I have just bought the first series off ebay...)

Re: X Men First Class

Yeah I found an old Gambit video in my drawer the other day!! They're difficult to get on DVD. I have the 90s one and the Wolverine and the X-Men one on DVD but um... they're not official.

The Evolution ones I've just bought are though. I guess they're more popular.

Re: X Men First Class

I've got the first two movies... and that's about it.

On the comics front, I'm not going to say. I'm too embarrassed

Re: X Men First Class

I gave all mine to the ex's son, and found out a month later he and his mates had hacked them all up to cover their school books and the note books they used for warhammer games... i nearly cryed. I'd had a lot of those since about 1986-87 and onward... spidermans, batmans, hulks, x-men, ghostrider and blaze... GUTTED.

Re: X Men First Class

Ouch Slow, that's almost to painful to hear.

I sold an awful lot of mine a few years ago, I needed the money and they were starting to take up far too much space. There are a few things I regret letting go of, but as a whole I'm okay with what I did.

The first comic I ever bought, was the X-Men, and I let that stay intact, having a near complete run (2 issues missing) from Giant Sized X-Men 1 (1974) up.

Re: X Men First Class

I think my first superhero comics i bought were a 3 pack of Hulks (although there were lots of Beano's and Dandy's before those)
I still have a stack of Buffy the vampier slayers never opened and a couple of Ghostriders unopened in storage.
The only x-men i have left are the graphic novel of the film (with the magneto/wolverine/rouge perquals) and a Heros one that has wolverine along with hulk/fantastic 4 ect...
