Post Slap Bass Videos!!!

This video is incredibly long, but the first 2 or 3 minutes features a cool 2 piece performance. The remaining 7 or 8 minutes is an instructional video with a few less than detailed tips on the technique used in the first 2 or 3 minutes. It's in Japanese, so it didn't do me too much good. But she's cute, so that didn't really matter much.

Anyway, post more slap bass videos, because they're cool.

Re: Post Slap Bass Videos!!!

This is a very close friend of mine, infact up until a few months ago i was playing in a band with him. He meshes many styles of bass together to create what i think you'll agree is a very individual style of his own. He also has an on line bass school.

And a classic from (IMO) 'the' king of slap 'n' pop.

((just feel lucky nobody has caught me on film playing slap ))

Wow, your friend is a MONSTER. There was a time when I thought it was impossible to strum a chord on the bass, but he does it with ease. And, of course Larry Graham turns the instrument into something almost holy. I imagine you'd have to have a pretty fasteye to follow those guys.

Re: Post Slap Bass Videos!!!

you should check out his youtube chanel, he has loads of his lessons/songs posted there.
I've never mastered past the basics on bass, but he can make the thing a whole band by itself.

I'll do that. It sounds like you and I are in the same boat. Grew up in a family of guitarists, dang it! I wish I had more dedication, these guys all make it look like so much fun.

Yeah, 90% of the little musical talent i have is buried in the 6 string, i can get by on bass as long as it stays within blues or 70's disco

I officially LOVE this forum
I signed up for completely different reasons than discussion of music, but anyplace that has a mention of Les Claypool which wasn't written by myself is a place I can call home.

Welcome, Malkiz. Les Claypool is awesome. I'm sure you've probably seen this video, but I felt like posting it.

Re: Post Slap Bass Videos!!!

Somewhat dated in the technical field but still very good.

Re: Post Slap Bass Videos!!!

I haven't improved much on my technique, but I decided to finally make a slap bass video anyway. It was shot on my cheap webcam. I'm slapping a 1980 Fender Precision Special, less than a year younger than I am. Since I am not the greatest at slap bass, I decided to try and make the video interesting in other ways. Please excuse any flamboyance or fuzzy images. It's all in fun.
