Did Weird Tales ask you to send something else? Because they did me and I can't work out if they really meant it or not!Quote:
Keep meaning to try Murky Depths as I spoke to the editor at a con last year and he said he didn't ever get enough dark sci-fi subs. So I thought I'd try that! | ||

| Re: Ego board Good idea, Mouse. Terry's always complaining that people only ever send him horror and dark fantasy (presumably because of the magazine's title) and he never gets enough dark SF, which is really what he loves the most. |

| Re: Ego board Well, it gets strange. I sent a story off to one of the major old-school mags, expecting nothing, but what came back was a weird mini-review, stating: this, that, the dialogue is X, doesn't fit Y. Hmmph, I thought, what did he read? Bore no resemblence to what I had sent... but then, I recalled that, years, decades ago even, someone gave me some writing to look at, critique...and I landed on the guy's dialogue I think, it wasn't good... some people can write dialogue and some struggle, and this particular story had awful dialogue. So- whoever it was- is now an editor at a major mag! and years later, remembers and sends back this weiiiiiird comment. VERY strange. |

| <3D~ | Re: Ego board He was nice. He also suggested sending in some narrative poetry after he picked up my anthology and flicked through it. I see MD are closed though at the mo. Gives me time to write something! I do have a sci-fi idea but I think it might be difficult to write. |

| <3D~ | Re: Ego board Since 2009 I've made 42 submissions and had 27* acceptances. I don't know what the percent is on that. Currently got six out being looked at, and one on a short list. And only three available to send. Plus two half-written. I keep everything on a spreadsheet otherwise I wouldn't know what I'd sent to who! *six of which were poems and seven were flash fiction. |

| Re: Ego board Recent experiences have led me to stop cold, no more writing, until someone honest or at least reasonable shows up! It's all a bit too reminiscent of the music biz. Writing in here will have ta be enough. |

| Re: Ego board I have gained hope by reading this Thread. To date, I have a pile of 'form email rejections.' On a positive note, I am now receiving actual, personal feedback and recommendations for more suitable sites to send the story to based on it's subject matter and to send them another story. I hope this means I am getting closer... |
