Yeah, well I'm still waiting to see Radio Free Albemuth, but it seems to have disappeared. Just as it would have if the conspiracy underlying the book was true. OMG!!

Is he going to keep it set in the 1960's (but with Rocket Ships and Nazi Governments)?

Is he going to keep all that religious Ying/Yang stuff?

I'd prefer a movie to be honest as with these TV shows I tend to miss one or more episodes. Its why I don't watch V stargate Universe or Chuck etc. Already missed the second episode of new Fringe, which is annoying!

The book had rocket ships and Nazi governments. The I Ching is essential to the storyline, especially at the end of the book.

Hi Hober, that was my point (which no one else has picked up.)

TV and Hollywood don't like setting Sci-Fi in the past. When they remake (War of the Worlds, I Legend, Day of the Triffids) the set it in the present day.

I don't think this book will work set in the present day. The Communist Block and Iron Curtain did not last more than 50 years, so why would an equivalent Nazi Totalitarian Regime and a division through America? All the Second World War Nazis would have died of old age. Those 'Flash Gordon' Rocket Ships might well have been built in the '50's if the V rocket programme had been continued, but by today, far superior spacecraft such as the Virgin Galactic would have already replaced them. Draining the Mediterranean Sea is an excellent idea. And as you say, the I Ching is essential to the storyline.

I welcome them adapting this book to the screen, but I fear that they will ruin it entirely.

Hmm. You're right. Although, "Inglorious Bastards" could be considered alternate history sci-fi. In the movie, the war ends early as the result of a successful allied plot to ambush and assassinate Hitler during the screening of a Nazi propaganda movie.

Also, "The Watchmen" is sort of an alternate history that takes place in an alternate 1985.
