Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

I can probably still kick some ass in socks, I guess.

I think I keep seeing that thing mentioned, but have never joined.

You'd be a devil in socks till you slip ankles over knees on the carpet

And you should join - unless facing your book library is a scary affair

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

And what does one do with a Goodreads thingy?

I would check myself but I'm lazy (and supposed to be working, shhh).

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

*rolls onto his belly again and crosses his front paws, glancing this way and that to make quite certain that no one was spying upon them, least whoever it is that sets the evil works be alerted to a lazing Orange One"

Ahhh well its like a list, of all the books you've read, are reading and are going to read. But it also acts a bit like Amazon in that once you've given 5 star awards to the books you've read it picks up other suggested titles for you to consider. Better yet it also integrates with a lot of online book sites (such as Amazon but also places like Abe Books) to give purchase options.
In addition its not just fantasy, but all kinds of books from boring things to complicated things to old things and new, to paper and even ebook.

Plus its got a social network built in so not only have you got reviews of books, but you can also read friends book libraries, what they are reading and there are also some discussion forum bits.

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

Heh, salright, I have to mosey the internet for my job, so I can claim to be working if anyone sees

And gah, sounds like another place to get royally sucked into! Mind you, my reading habits have re-he-he-heally gone downhill of late, so it might serve to get me back into it.

Being linked to Amazon and Abe Books sound mighty dangerous, though...

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

Aye, but no more dangerous than poking your nose near the book hauls or reading lists - all of Chrons is dangerous for the avid book collector as well as reader. And yeah I find when the reading list gets put in front of ones self the list makes you realise that one needs to get down to some serious and earnest reading.

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

I've got so many books on my ruddy shelves, I need to start there! But mayhap I'll have a poke around the site later on...probably end up joining...

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

Sounds like a good plan indeed, and just think of all the hidden gems in those book shelves waiting to be uncovered again.

Though do be careful you might displace some residents if its been that long since you last hit them - which reminds me you've not seen my bathroom friend have you?

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

Stuff has slowly been accruing and covering my books. Especially as a certain No One keeps forcing DVDs onto me, which I barely have room for. Heh.

Your...what now?

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

Oh you've moving from a student of the literature to one of the movies now! Reminds me that its been an age since I bough a good new DVD!

And yes yes my friend that lives in the bathroom (well at least sometimes I spy it in there).

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

Yah, I do seem to be watching more films than reading these days. Not enough hours in the ruddy day!

Oooh. OR, I am insanely jealous as always. Damn you and your amazing camera! (And army of tiny friends).

He, or she, is the only one I've found thus far - and I was lucky the room was cold otherwise they are a devil for jumping!

And are your eyes going square? They say that happens with too many films and TV things.

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

You should come here, my room is plagued with them (well, in the summer it was) crawling all over my windows and walls. Bless them. I tried to get photos myself, but they would be nothing in comparison to your bad boys.

Their sides might be starting to straighten, mayhap...

Speaking of which, have you been indulging in any of the latest gaming releases?

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

Ahhh don't talk so short of yourself, I'm sure you'd get better pictures than me - I'd be trying to jump away from them every time they got close

As for games, not too many; my computer has reached that point where its not much good with newer titles on anything but the lowest of low settings (esp after I had to replace the graphics card with something dirt cheap after the old one cooked itself). Minecraft absorbs a fair amount of time and I picked up Bastion recently with his good fun. A few of those free games like League of Legends also fill a gap here and there too - though the big title I was waiting for (Sword of the Stars 2) has flopped and the code is all messed up and needing months of patching to fix - such is the buggy releases PCs get these days. But what about you ?

Re: The Tea Room (Renovated)

I remember you saying about how scary spiders are up close -- then when I was taking a picture of a huge house spider and it suddenly moved and scared the crap out of me, your words back flooding back immediately

My laptop can't cope with much at all these days, so as much as I want to play things, I can't really. I need to get myself some kind of consoley thing. I'd love a Wii, 'cos I love the Zelda games and want to do all the badass movements. But No One brought his Xbox along last weekend and I really got into Halo Reach. Totally want to play that again. And had a whirl on Skyrim, which sounds HUGE and I love sandbox games like that.

But other than that, just playing some Pokemon White on the old DS
