Strange insects seem to appear on SG1 base then escape off base - they suddenly appear in a diner - but I cat find the right episode. Which one was it? Thanks

Could this be Foothold (series 3, I think)? If memory serves, a race of insect-like aliens infiltrate the base and replace everyone with their own, using devices that mimic appearances perfectly. At one point, Carter escapes and asks someone for help, but one of the aliens shows up at the same time (I think this takes place outside a diner).

If not, I'll have to put my thinking cap on. I liked the early episodes more than the later ones, so I don't remember the later ones as well.

No, its not foothold - I think that it was much more lighthearted than the foothold episode. These were creatures that went in and out of phase.
