Why couldn't those Germans be happy with 3?

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Or two.

(I suppose I could revert to a childhood - and childish - theory of mine, which was that teams have a certain number of goals in them and that they shouldn't waste them. I'm not sure that this would be much use wrt the German soccer team who, because they always reach the later stages of competitions, will have plenty of goals available, even if they keep winning only by 1-0 or 2-1. )

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Does someone roll a D12 before the start of each tournament and then add some modifiers based on the ability of the players?

Yes I know being an Aussie too. However it's obviously going to be tougher without him. Anyway, gettting through to the round of 16 from here would proably be an even greater effort than last time given where they currently sit on the table.

A twelve sided dice of the type used for Dungeons and Dragons and similar tabletop gaming. What it has to do with football, I'm not entirely sure...

Was just referring to Ursa's post about teams having a limited number of goals.

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

My next batch...

Brazil v N. Korea 4-0
Ivory Coast v Portugal 1-2
New Zealand v Slovakia 0-1

Honduras v Chile 0-2
South Africa v Uruguay 1-1
Spain v Switzerland 3-0

I still can't seem to avoid going for several high score tallies. Maybe I should stop using a D100...

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

I'll put in my next lot, too:

Tue 15th
New Zealand 1 - 1 Slovakia
Ivory Coast 1 - 2 Portugal
Brazil 2 - 0 North Korea

Wed 16th
Honduras 0 - 0 Chile
Spain 2 - 0 Switzerland
South Africa 1 - 0 Uruguay

If these are all wrong, then I blame the vuvuzelas.

Meh......

No it was more a "life sucks" whine come feeling of disappointment kind of Meh rather than a feeling of entire resignation. Having said that, I don't feel overly optimistic eventhough our countrymen are very good when the proverbial back is against the wall.

Only time shall tell....

Thanks for clearing up the confusion about what a D12 is. Not ever really getting into the whole D&D and games side of SFF I wasn't sure...
