Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Argentina 0 - 4 Germany

Hmm. Well. Didn't quite pick that one...

Wouldn't surprise me if they win the whole thing now.

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

That was a stupendous performance by the Germans, probably the best of the tournament so far.

Maradona should have told his team to use their hands..err, heads....

Anyone like to bet against Holland v Germany in the final?

Not unless Spain play a whole lot better than they have been doing. If it is Netherlands - Germany, I can only see one winner. And it ain't the Dutch.

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

I've watched Spain in every match so far, and it strikes me that if you take David Villa out of the equation, they're (to put it mildly) rather ordinary...

Yeah, I've been thinking the same thing, Py. Villa's been great, but for the most part Spain have been uninspired (and uninspiring).

That having been said, I'd love to see them start playing the way we know they can - and if they do it this evening, they'll take Paraguay apart.

Not to take anything away from your observation, Py, but if you've noticed it, you can be damn sure that Joachim Löw has.

Doubtless...

And with four South American teams in the quarters, who would have thought that Uruguay might be the only ones to get through?

Excellent work by Germany. Very very pleased they crushed Maradona's side.

I hope we get a Netherlands-Germany final.

You got it right there, Allegra - Germany have played as a team throughout, not as a collection of good players thrown together for the WC.

And not an ego among them, or so it would seem. How nice it would be to see that here...

That felt good! Sorry for not being active in forums, am kinda in middle of my exam preparations. So, anyone still having second thoughts about Germany getting to finals? Munich looks wonderful right now, even three hours later you can hear vuvuzela sounds in the neighborhood ^^

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Hats off to Germany. Wonderful performance, and fantastic result. I would never have expected such a one-sided game. Despite their relative youth, the Germans have been the best team in the tournament, and they fully deserve to be where they are. Who would bet against them, now?

I'm disappointed in the Argentines, who simply didn't turn up, today. But a large part of that was down to excellent German defending. We all knew the Argies were a bit suspect at the back. And if you deny them the ball, and stifle their attacking talent, they end up looking very ordinary, indeed (despite being one of the best teams in the world). Few teams can follow through with it. But today, Germany made Argentina look worse than ordinary.

And another disappointing show from Spain, who only just sneaked through. It's a shame we haven't seen the real Spain yet, because they're certainly the best team in the world right now when they play as well as they can. But going by current form, Germany might even be favourites to beat them. It's put up or shut up time for the reigning European champions. And a chance for Germany to get revenge for two years ago.

It should be a fascinating encounter. And it's very difficult to pick a winner.

Anyway, enjoy the celebrations, Einlanzer! Heute wünsche ich, daß ich in Deutschland war.
