| Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp Not sure who to be more ticked off with, myself for not going with my gut in the first place or Mexico for scoring. Oh, well. Argentina-Germany could be good. In the meantime... June 28th Netherlands 3 - 0 Slovakia Brazil 2 - 0 Chile June 29th Paraguay 1 - 0 Japan Spain 2 - 3 Portugal |

Regarding the controversial goals: while I hope (though I think it's futile) that FIFA will see sense over these things, I doubt they affected the final results in todays matches. England played badly and would have lost. Mexico, on the other hand, played well; but unless the second goal was caused by the defender brooding over the first goal, Argentina would have won. The team that has lost out - and I know some here will have little sympathy for them - is Italy. They would have come second in their group (on goal difference) if the NZ goal in their match had been correctly ruled offside. | |

| Causa Scientiae | Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp Hmm. Beats me. I'd have thought predicting the correct winner would still net you a point. Although, I will admit to struggling with the points system ever since my nice, simple idea of 90-minute-only predictions was canned. Not that I'm complaining. I understand how I got my 13 points in the past two days, which is good enough for me. ![]() Regarding goal-line technology: while it would prevent what happened to England today, I don't think it would help those teams who have suffered from having onside goals disallowed, or offside goals allowed against them. That would require a far more comprehensive system of video review. Easy enough to implement in the major tournaments and rich domestic leagues, but not so much so across the board. I'm in favour of the introduction of technology to aid officials in decision-making, but I can see there being problems with that, too. Anyway, I haven't fully decided what I think the scores will be in Tuesday's games, yet, so I'll just give the results for tomorrow, now: Mon 28th Netherlands 2 - 0 Slovakia Brazil 3 - 1 Chile |
