| Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp To put it in very simple terms I mean.... Pick winning side (don't care how they win) = 1 point Pick correct winning scoreline in full time or after extra time = 3 points *I think it is implied here that you by default would also have picked the correct wining team as I can see a technical loophole here otherwise and thus you get 4 points. HOWEVER, this does make the below DRAWN 3 points scoreline slightly less fair as you could still end up picking the incorrect winner after penalties and thus only get 3 points eventhough you had the correct drawn scoreline. Scoreline being the key thing here. Pick correct drawn scoreline e.g. 1-1, 2-2 etc. = 3 points Not perfect but perhaps an easier way to do things Dunno? What do you think Wybern? |

| Crooked Warden | Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp Just to clarify, you can choose to put your tips in as one of two ways just straight tipping the end result, or you can choose to tip that the game goes into extra time by doing so as such Team A 2-2 Team B (team B) dont put penalties at all. Gollum for example, tonight you have tipped Germany 2-1. If they win 2-1 you get 4 points, if it draws 1-1 and then win in extra time like the (Ghana match did) and the end score was 2-1 then you get 4 points. The maximum you can get for a match is 4 points. The 3 point thing is a bonus if people choose to go out on a limb and state that the game will need to go to extra time and pick the correct result that caused it. - If you pick draw but dont correctly pick the score that put it into overtime you get nil points or 1 if you state the winner. If you tip, as Seph did, that a game would draw 1-1 and pick the correct winner in extra time then you get 4. For that game both Seph and Thaddeus (who tipped Ghana 2-1) got 4 points as even though they went a different route via tipping they both were correct. It really isnt much different than before, it just has an extra option. The new chart has 3 columns, first column is the points awarded in the first round of the game, the second is the points in the round of 16 - which is the current round and the last is the total, so people can see how they go in each stage. |

If I ever choose a penatly shootout scenario then I'll post the score that leads to the penalty shootout e.g. 2 - 2 and select the winner of the shootout. I would expect 4 points to be given if I was correct on all accounts. I do like the way you now present the table Wybren. It is very clear... ![]() Now off to get ready for the game.....

ie Siberia 2-2 Antarctica ( Antarctica wins) If you did predict how Seph did and get a similar result then 4 points is what you would get.

![]() Anyway, my predictions for tonight are definitely based on the full time OR extra time score (if it goes that far) as they are NOT counting on any sort of a draw and therefore subsequent penatly shootout. Just so you are clear what I intended when tallying up points tomorrow even if I inadvertently end up with a point somehow. Cheers.

Blog Entries: 3 | Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp Can we start predicting, for points, the number of idiotic decisions from the officials, too? We saw so much of it in the qualifying stages, we've seen the mother of all bad decisions today and I bet my first born child that we'll see them all the way to the last whistle in the final. --- And that's it... knocked out by a thirteen man German team. Brilliant... Didn't help that our defence were as much use as sacks of potatoes. --- EDIT: And whilst I'm here: June 28th Netherlands 3 - 1 Slovakia Brazil 4 - 0 Chile June 29th Paraguay 1 - 1 Japan (Japan on penalties) Spain 2 - 3 Portugal Last edited by Lenny; 27th June 2010 at 05:01 PM. |

| Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp German thoroughly deserved it. Played far more intelligently. I'd say the main culprits for England were Gerrard (nothing but ambitious through-balls or long range shots, seldom just passing to someone in a better position than him), Rooney (barely managed to complete any kind of pass), Terry and Upson (who were embarassingly out of sorts). Very poor performance overall, which doesn't fully mask the fact that Sepp Blatter is total pr*ck. Also, pundits keep saying it's difficult to say how good this German side is playing, because opposing defences keep making huge mistakes. If that happens consistently, and it has been in Germany's case, when are they going to actually start giving the Germans credit? They've easily played the best and most effective football in the tournament for me. I did predict 5 goals though, just the wrong proportions |

| Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp Got to agree that Germany thoroughly deserved that. Sure, Lampard's goal should have stood, but if not for James England could have been four down by that point - and could have shipped eight or nine by the end. Marty Feldman...sorry, Mesut Ozil was excellent again, ran England ragged, and England's defence was absolutely woeful. Oh, and just how badly does Rooney have to be before he's dropped? Utterly non-existent, again. |

| Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp James did well. I do think the defence might have turned up to assist him, however. Good luck, Germany. Despite the referee's gross incompetence, Germany deserved the win. |
