Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Today could be a truly horrible day... and that's before I have to knuckle down and work on my dissertation.

Slovenia 0 - 1 England
USA0 - 0 Algeria
Australia 1 - 2 Serbia
Ghana 1 - 2 Germany

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Damned Americans! I was so close to eight points... harrumph.

Right, time to work. Today hasn't been as bad a day as I expected. The icing on the cake would be if Group D is topped by a team that isn't Germany.

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

I suppose two points is better than nothing.

(And England is through; furthermore, they played well. )

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Same here: 2 points.

And it was good to see a real effort from everyone (Terry flopping about like a fish desperately trying to get in a block was hilarious, as was James' shouting "f***ing superb!").

Also pleased to see the US get through. They deserved it after having some decisions go against them. My 12-year-old prediction of the US winning the World Cup in 2010 is still on course.

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

I agree about the US.

Yes, they were lucky to get the Hand of Clod goal, but they ought to have won their game against Slovenia (i.e. in the sense that their wrongly-disallowed third goal should have been allowed to stand).

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Update ladder.

It is a shame that we have to bow out. It would have been good if Ghana had won, or we score more goals. Oh well, there is always next time. C'mon New Zealand then, one of us Antipodes had better make it.

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

What's happened to Einlanzer? Lost his magic touch or simply failed to post his predictions? Well done Cul, who's fighting tough at the top (commiserations for the Aussies, by the way).

So to complete the group stages:

Cameroon v Netherlands 0-3
Denmark v Japan 1-1
Paraguay v New Zealand 1-1
Slovakia v Italy 0-1

Chile v Spain 1-2
N. Korea v Ivory Coast 0-2
Portugal v Brazil 3-2 (you heard it here first folks)
Switzerland v Honduras 1-1

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

There's just no catching Cul, dagnabbit. I'll settle for reclaiming 2nd spot from Gollum, if I can. While looking nervously over my shoulder at Ursa and Einlanzer (who may well have been above me if he'd got his predictions in for today).

Many thanks to England for sneaking the win, today. And I never thought I'd say that.

Thu 24th
Slovakia 0 - 1 Italy
Paraguay 2 - 0 New Zealand
Denmark 1 - 0 Japan
Cameroon 0 - 2 Netherlands

Fri 25th
Portugal 1 - 2 Brazil
North Korea 0 - 2 Ivory Coast
Chile 1 - 3 Spain
Switzerland 1 - 0 Honduras

As there is only a point between you and GOLLUM I would say that is definitely possible.

Ursa, I did notice your excellent prediction. I was referring to the scoreline
