Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Yeh! I'm in 4th spot closing in on 3rd.

Still, I didn't expect the France result. There really has been some doozie upsets so far in this World Cup hasn't there...

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Alberto Undiano has cost me (and many others, I imagine) points this afternoon. Hmph.

Ah well, at least I still have the USA match to look forward to - come on you Slovenians!

EDIT: No, I want the Slovenians to draw, actually.

What a great game! None of us gained any points, but I am still very happy with the result!

A great game? The result for us maybe (we might miss Germany completely at this rate!), and you guys probably see it as sweet justice, but it was such a horribly boring game from two sides that play nice football. I feel like I've wasted my day.

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

I don't know if I wanted a draw or a German loss. Either way a win against Ghana is still really a must...

Didn't see the game so can't comment on the quality. I hope Germany just had an off night, and we're not truly that bad.

Thought the referee screwed Germany over. They still played well with 10 men, though.

And what a belter from Slovenia. Great goal.

The Germans played extremely well with 10 men. They had a number of chances but just couldn't capitalize including a straight penalty shot at goal (handball). That was apparently the second only out of 12 previous penalty shots (in normal time) they have ever missed in world cup history ARGH! as a draw would have meant a little less pressure on the Aussies. Now they have to really win their last 2 games to be good chances of getting through. Imagine if Ghana upset Germany and the Aussies beat Serbia and Ghana, In other words Ghana and Australia go through and Germany miss out. Wowee! that would be something to see......

I say... is this going to be another day of no points?

Tell you what, I do hope this Day of the Underdog finishes after this match...

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Poor officiating continues. US player just got booked for a ball bouncing off his cheeks.

2-0 to Slovenia. They look much better attacking wise compared to when they played Algeria. Scoreline flatters them a bit so far, though.

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

Actually, I would have preferred the Slovenians to win. A draw isn't too bad, though.

I got me a point!

---

Putting in my tips for the next couple of days:

19th June
Netherlands 2 - 1 Japan
Ghana 2 - 0 Australia
Cameroon 1 - 1 Denmark

20th June
Slovakia 0 - 1 Paraguay
Italy 2 - 1 New Zealand
Brazil 2 - 1 Ivory Coast

Re: FIFA WC Tipping comp

So much for gauging the teams as the tournament beds in. I'm tempted to start canvassing results as 1 or 2 nil - i couldn't do much worse than I am.

My next two days worth...

Cameroon v Denmark 0-2
Ghana v Australia 1-1
Netherlands v Japan 2-1

Brazil v Ivory Coast 2-1
Italy v New Zealand 2-0
Paraguay v Slovakia 1-0
