| Iron Man 2 (2010) Was it only 2 years ago I went to see Iron Man at the Pictures and enjoyed it... well ..... A lot . So last weekend I went with Popcorn in hand and settled down to watch another instalement of Marvel magic . And I was a bit dissapointed. Is it me ? Am I getting old ? Or was it a average movie ? What Do you think ? |

I chuckled at the silly name of that super bullet from Sam Rockwell. Sam Rockwell was good in it, and so was Mickey Rourke. but mostly pants. |

| Re: Iron Man 2 (2010) I actually really liked it. I agree that it wasn't as good as the first one, but it's definitely miles ahead of the majority of other recent superhero movies. I think the cast and characterisation were still really strong, but it seems like they tried to make the script overly complicated with a number of intersecting villains and storylines ("Spiderman 3 syndrome"). I have to say I'm getting pretty excited about this Avengers franchise, and I am in no way familiar with the comics. I think, though, that having Thor and Captain America building up to the Avengers film might be putting a lot of strain on them; I think it would have been better to let them try to stand on their own merits rather than have them as precursors to something greater and more complex. But I guess studios or whatever don't work that way. Still, with Joss Whedon in charge of the Avengers movie, nothing can go wrong! What was this thread about again? Oh yeah, Iron Man 2. I liked it! |

| Re: Iron Man 2 (2010) I thought it wasn't quite as good as the first one. I thought the first one was good, but not great and this one was just a bit better than your average super hero movie. Downey Jr. during the first twenty minutes or so seemed to be trying way too hard to be funny and it mostly didn't work. Probably a problem with the script combined with his acting. Thankfully he did settle down and it became a decent movie. |

| Luna tick | Re: Iron Man 2 (2010) they've been doing this since the batman series got past the first Tim burton one. They seem to think that if they give us more villains and more plot threads they will cater for more of us, but they fail to realise that none of the plots will be sufficiently fleshed out. |

| Pretentious Avatar Alert. | Re: Iron Man 2 (2010) Maybe the Avengers thing is a good idea--I dunno--but, to me, all that stuff was just a plot-parasite leeching out the quality. It badly warped a story that initially seemed promising--a man's ego coping with being the world's techno-savior (Interesting new ground in itself) contrasted with Rourke's character as a symbol of the Stark's dark past. I only went to see it, cuz my friend insisted. Damn it, I could have seen Four Lions instead! |

| Re: Iron Man 2 (2010) I seem to be one of the few who didn't really like the first Iron Man. IM2 I thought was better - not extraordinary, but really good with plenty of action and fun to go around. An 8/10 kind of movie to me, while the first was 6/10. Though people need to realize that Mickey Rourke isn't a good actor (except for Sin City) - thankfully Sam Rockwell is there to compensate. |
