SO???? hear hear. both mrs chopper & myself are pleasantly surprised. and the new assistant will guarantee repeat viewing. ![]() as an aside, did anybody notice that the shape of the crack in the wall matched the shape of the line on one of the Tardis's instruments at the final scenes? |

| weaver of the unseen | Re: The Eleventh Hour.... SO???? I liked it, a great deal, even though I had a wee bit of trouble of hearing everything the dear Doctor said, cos he was so fast. I mean really, really fast, when the old Doctor took his time to clearly pronounce everything. But do I have to say that Amy is the prettiest assistant ... er ... side-kick ... no ... companion, ever, and the transformation from the child to adult was spot-on perfect. Ten points. What I really like about Moffat is that you can clearly see how he ties together his RTD helmed episodes, even the reference to the Doctor having not just a companion, but a wife - just like River Song said in the Library episode. So, I guess that in some point in the future (maybe not in the season) we are going to see the Doctor having a pick-nick with his wife in the front lawn of Asgard. |

| Re: The Eleventh Hour.... SO???? I'm going to go with loved it. I have to admit I had some hesitations leading up to it, but Matt nailed it. And it was a excellent start for the Doctor. I've generally found the intro segments to a new Doctor a bit tedious as they make the Doctor overly silly, crazed and helpless. Once we got past that it was just dandy. |

| Re: The Eleventh Hour.... SO???? I took a break from staring at my awesome month old baby to watch the eleventh hour. I want my hour back. Its getting a little boring when he's all "OH I"M THE DOCTOR. RUN." To everything. And I don't see what was so eleveny about it, since it didn't build up any real suspense other than 'Silence is coming' well thank goodness for that, if you lived in my house you'd be hoping for silence. The only awesomesauceness was the floaty eyeball dudes. They were so cool! The new assistant is adorable. The new doctor. Well, I remain undecided. |

And what about Rose's mother? I remember her making a pass at Christopher Ecclestone. | |

| Re: The Eleventh Hour.... SO???? Probably means the Mail's own commenters (not the sanest bunch at the best of times) ranted about Gillan's attire. Can't think there'd have been too much comment elsewhere. Oh, and were Rose and Martha tomboyish? Was Catherine Tate? More to the point, would you say it to her face? |

| Wherever I Am, I'm There | Re: The Eleventh Hour.... SO???? Well, I wouldn't tell Leela (Louise Jameson) that either! But to be fair, few of them were girly girls. They were always hyper-intelligent or feminists or girl-next-door types or psychopaths. Perpugilliam Brown is probably the only exception. (Maybe Tegan Jovanka.) |

| Re: The Eleventh Hour.... SO???? Having seen this one, I do think he is off to a good start. A bit too manic for my taste at points, but not overwhelmingly so. I have to say that I am a bit wary of the "Basically: Run" lines... but I've a hunch we're seeing the "pride that goeth before a fall" sort of thing, too, and the Doctor is in for a rather nasty comeuppance at some point with this. I could be entirely wrong, but it is just a feeling I'm increasingly getting.... I do like the cheeky new companion. Yes, she's extremely attractive, and sharp and quick as well... and the chemistry is already well in place, which is an important point. Definitely a fun roller-coaster ride, and I found watching this one reenergized me after a genuine meat-grinder of a day... perked me right up and had me looking forward to what the new team are going to do with the series.... Oh... and I don't think the "revelation" about Amelia the younger and the elder was meant as such for the viewers... anything but. It was, however, meant to have the viewers in on something the Doctor was not... after all, he was thinking five minutes, and a resemblance (even such a strong one) is not an identity. Even six months, the figure she gave out, would tend to confirm his assumed bias that Amelia was still a little girl and he'd only been out a (relatively) short span... whereas we all, I think, knew better. To me, this also clued the audience in long before the Doctor to the level of bitter disappointment and even resentment which Amy feels toward him... which I also get the feeling may play a part in future stories as well. |
