I seem to recall a mention of someone (or something) influencing or triggering Aerys's descent into madness, perhaps in a Jaime or BFS chapter. Exaclty who or what eludes me, though.

Wait, his kidnapping at Duskendale? So perhaps the Lord of Duskendale - his name escapes me...

Let's try something a little different for this question. I'm going to give links in a Maester's chain, and what each is asscoiated with, but scrambled. Pair the correct metal with the correct discipline

Black iron= Smithing
Bronze= History
Copper= Medicine and healing
Gold= Magic and the occult
Iron= Ravenry
Pale steel= Warcraft
Silver= Astronomy
Valyrian Steel= Economics

Gold is economics, obviously.
Black iron is ravenry.
Valyrian steel is magic and the occult.

Those are the ones I am sure of.

Iron is smithing.
Silver is medicine and healing.
Copper is history.
Bronze is warcraft.
Pale steel is astronomy.

I don't have much faith in those...
