Re: aSoIaF Trivia Game Eragon? Aren't you in the wrong book, lol? And I can't remember a Saiha... But I could be wrong. You got 3 right, however, so you only owe me one (or an assurance that Saiha was right - I did a quick check and didn't find any mention of a dragon by that name, but it might have slipped past my notice).

| Thousand eyes and one! | Re: aSoIaF Trivia Game Silverwing, the dragon of Good Queen Allysanne. Syrax, the dragon Tyrion mentioned. Urrax, the dragon that ate the so called queen in first Dance of Dragons (I think it was his name, eaten the Mother of Aegon the Dragonsbane). No Eragon or Saiha... I don't know any more. |

Re: aSoIaF Trivia Game Very good Young Stormlord! You get brownie points. I think we mentioned just about all the dragons there are. So - next turn goes to Eversummer for answering first.

Re: aSoIaF Trivia Game Red/Auburn for the ones that take after their mother (Robb, Sansa, Bran, Rickon), and Black for those that take after their father (Arya and Jon). Okay, so if R+L=J, then Jon takes after his mother since he doesn't have silver hair, but lets not get too complicated here.

| Thousand eyes and one! | Re: aSoIaF Trivia Game You're correct, Tywin. Your turn . As for your observation, thing is, Asoiaf haircolours follow the rules of genetics. That's why every Robert's child has black hair and eyes, no matter hair and eye colour of the mother... |

Re: aSoIaF Trivia Game You mean as in blond is a recessive gene and blond not? So if R+L=J then there is a strong probability he would inherit the darker Stark coloring. It does raise the question of how Sansa and Robb came out red-haired...

Re: aSoIaF Trivia Game A person with dark hair (dominant gene) can have a child with light hair (recessive gene) because everyone carries two genes and if one of them is dominant that one shows. One of the two genes they carry gets passed on to their child, so a person with dark hair that is carrying a recessive light hair gene has a 50% chance of passing the light hair gene. On the other hand someone with light hair carries only two recessive genes. So: Two people with dark hair can have a blonde haired child if they both carry a recessive gene (25% chance) If one parent has dark hair (but carries a hidden recessive gene) and the other has light hair, then they have a 50% chance of having a kid with light hair. If both parents have light hair, 100% of their children will have light hair (no dominant genes passed anywhere)

Re: aSoIaF Trivia Game Okay, okay - Catlyn wasn't unfaitful - Ned's Mother was just probably a redhead. Thanks for the refresher course Tywin, but you missed the point of this tread: what's the next question?

Re: aSoIaF Trivia Game I thought it was interesting that GRRM didn't apparently understand hereditary hair color since that was a major plot point in AGOT, although I will allow that since he is writing a book set in a fantasy world, their genetics could be different as well. Okay, here's the question: Name 20 Maesters and where they serve/served.

Re: aSoIaF Trivia Game Sorry for the continues thread jacking but Tywin if you are speaking of Robert's bastards with the black hair this is very possible. Robert could carry two dominants (black) in which case all of his children would inherit that gene and the black hair. Maester Aemon- The Wall-Castle Black Grand Maester Pycelle- Kings court in kings Landing Maester Ballabar- Arbor Maester Colemon- Eryie Maester Myles- Sunspear Maester Caleotte- Water Gardens Maester Vyman- Riverrun Maester Lomys- Highgarden Maester Pylos- Dragonstone Maester Wendamyr- Pike Maester Melwys-Rosby Maester Creylen-Casterly Rock Maester Harmune-Eastwatch Maester Mullin-Shadow Tower Maester Cressen-Dragonstone Maester Jurne-Storm's End Maester Luwin-Winterfell Maester Vyman-Winterfell Maester Willamen-Longbow Hall Maester Frekenken-Stokeworth There! Dang that was a tough one!
