Font size -Has small font been banned?

I was just posting in the 1000 post club and need to add an aside. I thought size 1 font is the one for me and joyfully highlighted the section as one would.

This is what I get

size 1 Verdana

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog

Size 2

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog

size 1 Arial

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog

Size 2

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog


Is this my machine or the site?

Seems to every font type.

Well, I can see a definite difference between the samples you posted...

This is the smallest I can get in Verdana:

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog

Arial Narrow:

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog

Courier New:


The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog

Can you remember them being smaller, TEiN? I think the default size has always been "2"...

I think it's your machine, TEIN -- I remember that there's a setting in Internet Explorer that limits the smallness of font sizes (might also be the case in other browsers) so maybe you turned that on without realising it?

Yes I can. Size 1 was half the size. I'm looking into HareBrain's suggestion. On my machine the 1 font is actually bigger than the size 2

Also I used to do my critiquing in the smaller size font until people complained about it being too small.


Yes it's true it's my settings.

If you click on the page button (Toolbar next to print on my machine) then you can set the font size from 5 options.

If you set it to max then the smallest font size changes to a bigger font even though the others stay the same.

Thank Mr. Gates. If it changed them all in proportion it would make sense.
