and more importantly

B - You're gonna have to buy them all over again when the 3D Blu-Ray comes out

With the VHS, re-made VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray and eventual 3D Blu-Ray, after three separate releases at the cinema, why are people dumb enough to keep paying for it. Especially when all they do after they've handed their money over is B***H about how they don't like the changes and it used to be so much better 35 years ago.

I think its about time people stopped buying it to be honest, he's taking you all for a ride, a forced-perspective blurry false 3D ride with extra stuff you don't want tacked on the end and ruining it as he empties your wallets yet again.

He's doing it for revenge you know, jealous that the rest of the human race actually has a neck

btw - I love star wars, I just hate George 'No-Neck' Lucas, who is now basically a thief.

Yes because George Lucas is holding a gun to your head, forcing you to buy every Star Wars version ever released.

I am amused by George Lucas haters. He created his own world and his own characters and is free to do whatever the hell he wants with it and people criticise him for it.
Then people criticise him for releasing multiple versions of the same film yet they are always the ones who purchase the product encouraging him to do it.

Nope, not pissed here. Mainly because after buying the DVDs years ago, I decided that all the future 'improvements' could be ignored and I'll stop spending more money on new versions.

Especially after his near-successful attempt at screwing up the whole franchise with those prequals

Re: Star Wars in 3D

Im with Ktabic... I've got em on DVD and that's enough really, can even choose to watch the un-altered originals for the first trilogy if I want, but I do usually watch the special editions for the improved effects.

Han still shot first though dag-nam-it.

As for Huttman's comments, my gripe is less with George Lucas making changes, and more with people knowing the changes are there, buying/going to watch it again, and then complaining about them. And if it was just the new technology thing with newer releases I wouldn't have a problem, its just that he changes them in tiny little dribs-and-drabs for EVERY single re-release, meaning if you aren't ready to fork out more money, which i haven't done for a while now, you're missing out on the ultimate version of it.

And right now, I'd rather feel like I'm missing out than like I've just been robbed, he could have just held off on the Blu-Rays till the 3D reworking was done and put them in the same box.

Lets not forget he only released the widescreen special edition on VHS just as everybody else switched to DVD, and the original trilogy on DVD AFTER everybody else re-issued their stuff on Blu-Ray, so you'd pay for it on DVD before the Blu-Ray came out. Now he puts them on Blu-Ray, a few years late, just so you'll pay again BEFORE the 3D versions come to blu-ray.

The timing, and obvious planning behind it, knowing that people are going to pay yet again for an already almost redundant version of it, is a bit callous.

I'm betting the 3D blu-rays that need glasses will end up being rushed out just as everyone else is switching to that new 3D that actually works properly with no colour loss or migraines, and doesn't need glasses, which will in turn be rushed out just before the next format fully replaces that...

Re: Star Wars in 3D

It's all about the distinction between Experience and Possession.

I won't mind experiencing a 3D Star Wars, but I'll only ever possess the enjoyment of seeing it for the first time - and some of the earlier DVDs for when I wish to recapture or share the initial experience with others.

Re: Star Wars in 3D

The first time I saw the original Star Wars was a very special moment for me as well. The time (nothing else to compare it with), the place ( a huge, awesome theater/screen), my age (nine), and being there with my dad. Did I mention the screen size?
