| Re: Star Wars in 3D Parson, I hope you recover from your shock soon, to realise that Lucas' business strategy does not involve pleasing those of us who grew up on the original trilogy. the marketing strategy is firmly around the later films. Many more toys can be squeezed out of that series. |

| Re: Star Wars in 3D I don't have any interest in seeing it in 3d, mainly because of the inevitable changes that will be made to the story. I still watch only the original Star Wars, even though Lucas has conveniently never remastered it. He has made the versions with revisions in good quality over the years in his attempt to force people to watch them over the older ones. I suspect this 3D thing is a ploy for the same strategy. Instead of allowing the original to be remastered and re-released for the sake of older fans, he will release only a revised version in this quality. To watch the good picture quality you have to put up with the changes made to the story. |

| Re: Star Wars in 3D Quick question here, I haven't had time to read the whole thread: Will these films be the originals in 3D, or the crappy special versions with **** added in digitally like Anakin and Vader's incredibly boring voice? If this is the case...I'd rather save my money for Transformers 4 or something equally dreadful. |

| The Enigma of Steel | Re: Star Wars in 3D When they made it available, I purchased a copy of Star Wars, (the version without the new special effects that doesn't say A New Hope.) They can do what they want to it and I may or may not watch new versions but I'll still have a copy of the one I saw at the theater in 1977 that impressed the hell out of me with it's incredible lightyears leap in special effects. Anything they've done since has not equaled that jump. |

| Re: Star Wars in 3D The only Star Wars film I've ever watched in a cinema has been Episode 2 and that was with a couple of very goofy people and an almost empty cinema (small town...20 people in the cinema would've been a premiere or something). I would really welcome the chance to see the originals in 3D, on a grand cinema screen...but if it's the reworked versions I really can't bear to watch. |

| Re: Star Wars in 3D I saw the movie and thought they did an exceptional job with the 3D effects, although to achieve this effect most things had to be blurred more to give the impression of depth. I've seen movies that were not meant to be 3D (Clash of the Titans) and it gave me a headache watching it. While the fast moving scenes are difficult to appreciate in 3D , even for those filmed for that purpose, I was pleased to see it done so well in this new format. I prefer films in 2D, but this is a nice option to me if occasionally I want to see it 'differently' once in a while. CG Yoda was amazing and some of the limited space battle gave me the same vertigo feeling I had as a kid watching the forced perspective of diving into the Death Star trench back during the original release. I think 3D is still a novelty, but I do think animated films and movies like Tron Legacy use this feature better that live action flicks. |

| Re: Star Wars in 3D Is nobody else even a little pissed that this 3D version comes out within months of the Blu-Ray version, meaning that after you just spent £80rrp on it (that's $120 US): A - You're an idiot for paying the full price and more importantly B - You're gonna have to buy them all over again when the 3D Blu-Ray comes out With the VHS, re-made VHS, DVD, Blu-Ray and eventual 3D Blu-Ray, after three separate releases at the cinema, why are people dumb enough to keep paying for it. Especially when all they do after they've handed their money over is B***H about how they don't like the changes and it used to be so much better 35 years ago. I think its about time people stopped buying it to be honest, he's taking you all for a ride, a forced-perspective blurry false 3D ride with extra stuff you don't want tacked on the end and ruining it as he empties your wallets yet again. He's doing it for revenge you know, jealous that the rest of the human race actually has a neck ![]() btw - I love star wars, I just hate George 'No-Neck' Lucas, who is now basically a thief. | Re: Star Wars in 3D You forgot Beta and Laserdisk, Jammill. Hey, he didn't create all those different formats, he just responds to the current technology. I have not bought every release ever put out, but there always is a demand for it and people must be buying it who have never bought it before or wants the latest best version. It sounds a bit like bitterness on your part...did he take you every time they re-re-re-re-released them? |
