Falklands Veteran In view of the fact that England scraped a truly dreadful win against Argentina yesterday at Twickenham: The best bit of the whole game was that on your seat was a large piece of purple paper to celebrate England's new 'away' strip, even though they were playing at home, There was more applause for the paper aeroplanes that made it onto the pitch from the top of the stands, than there was for the game itself. So, the Joke - it's an old one, but what the heck? There's a down-and-out sitting outside the station with a cup and a sign saying 'Falklands Veteran' and an elderly chap stops in front of him and says: "I was in the army during the Korean conflict, and I have a pretty good idea what you chaps went through. Sorry to see you're down on your luck." and gives him £20, and walks away. The down-and-out stares at it in amazement for a moment and calls out to the chap as he walks away: "Gracias, Senor!"

Re: Falklands Veteran The joke is so very English. After sitting astride the world for two centuries, London is now the get ahead venue for all of the once-conquered. (I know, I know: the Falklands are still in the Em-py-uh.)

Re: Falklands Veteran The Falklands were kicked out of the empire 18 months before the invasion. ![]() Still, I told this one to a teenager and he didn't get it (PS we were in the Falklands too).
