Re: DDoS attack downtime

They seem canny guys on Techwatch. I've been having a bit banter with them trying to wind them up a little. Chrons versus Techwatch type thing. Got a nice PM from G77.

It was an experience last night.

Cheers

And as a side-benefit, seeing the name, Scientific-Atlanta, brought back a lot of old memories. (Is it really fifteen years since I visited them in Georgia?)

I also joined their ranks. Although I didn't get chance to do any windings.

The last time we all had to go without I sought out another of Brians sites

Namely:

Interfaith forums - Powered by vBulletin

They seem a fairly friendly lot. Although they do love long in depth posts at times.

Try not to rile up folks at other forums, please - wouldn't like an inter-community war going out across my domains.

Also, no chance of chronicles dying while I'm the helm - there are inevitable technical issues that will come up now and then, but I'll always do everything I can to keep the place running.

Hi Bryan,

I was'nt aware that I'd riled anyone up. It was a bit banter between forums and G77 did send me a message saying I hadnt riled them up at all, when I'd PM'd him thinking they'd took my comments the wrong way.

They were on about cable boys, and cable muppets which I've got no idea what that means, and I was saying we could imagine better technology than they'd ever have. Healthy banter I would say.

Remember I'm a hairy arsed Geordie, who are renowned for their honesty and welcoming demeonor.

But, having said that their are not many of us in the Diplomatic Service so maybe I'm wrong. If I was I apologise unreservedly.

Cheers

Right, get the rope and tar. It's time to tie Brian to the wheel.

Re: DDoS attack downtime

You're in for a nasty shock when you turn up with that tar and rope, TEIN.

As for the comments - no foul, but both communities have been through stress with the server move, so the sooner everyone feels settled down, the better, without any special ideas on provoking other communities.

Um, would the move be why my default entry point...
http://www.chronicles-network.com/forum/
... has vanished ??

( I cosset & cajole two (2) NAS boxes and an HP printer, and that my limit thank you VERY much. Took six months to get right. Then, when I came to do pre-holiday back-up, I found I could not copy from one NAS to another without losing umpteen files... Spit !!)

It's just good to see the place back, thanks.

There was talk of invasions and takeovers on facebook. The Chrons conspiracy theorists were working overtime.

I suspect that's right because I had the same problem. After tech watch, that address kept directing me to a site that sold communications devices in the UK. --- I didn't buy any. Parsons in Iowa have little need to connect with British telephone directory.

Oh I don't know Parson. If you got the Isle Of Wight B directory as well, you'd have the full set.
