Thought me writing career was over!

Thanks for all your hard work.

Weighed in elsewhere too, but can't ever be too thankful to those who do good work! Hope Gandalf's blessing of "surpassing excellence" visits your next pint (and the one after that, too, etc....)

Nothing like the occasional fear that Chrons might be gone for good to make you realise how much you appreciate it!

Thanks for everything Brian.

* Wonders if there was more cold turkey than...

...on Boxing day

...at one of those celebrity drying-out clinics. *

Thanks, Brian, for sorting things out.

Re: DDoS attack downtime

Hey the good news is I'm a member of www.techwatch.co.uk now and I've found out that the cable boys on that site are to be avoided! Phew!

See here

Glad to be back here though.

Thank you Brian for all your work, to bring The Chronicles back!

I just wonder if 'they' might be jealous because this is such a large and popular site

Re: DDoS attack downtime

Good work Brian!

When I suddenly found myself at that other forum it was like returning home from a hard nights work and stepping inside the front door only to be met by a strange woman-- exotic, dangerous, a creature dressed in black smelling of foreign spices, with all the unspoken promises of an alley cat in heat.

But in the end I'll keep the old girlfriend...

You're lucky, for me, it was like coming home to a dog. (Four legs and, 'Woof,' honest !)

Great work, Brian.

I'm just relieved you dedicate yourself so selflessly to maintaining this site. And thank you for the efforts you put into providing us all with a place we can all meet up and chat.

Re: DDoS attack downtime

Having only just found this excellent forum I was horrified when it apparently died. I am therefore very grateful to whoever undertook the surgery to save its life. Thank you.

Re: DDoS attack downtime

I'm just really sorry we've had these issues.

Suffice to say, anyone with experience with webhosts will know that not all of them are very clued up, and while the new server host apparently is a dab hand with blocking DDoS attacks, they have repeatedly provided information on DNS settings which was completely incorrect, yet constantly changes.

Really hoping all has settled down now finally, though.
