| What type of book would you like SK to do? Hi SK is probably my top author. I don't mean to say he's the best living writer or anything, but he does have a ton of skill. But more just that I like to read all his works. Even his lesser books I still enjoy. I have not read all his books yet, maybe 70% and probably read 1 or 2 of his books every year for the past 25 years. I got to thinking, what would I like him to do? I like his massive books like 'IT' and 'The Stand' and I would surely not mind anything like that. I like most post apocacyliptic books and SK has done 'The Stand' and 'Cell' and I think that's something he could go to the well again with. If I had SK's ear, I would say for him to view "Dr Strangelove" and something like that only with an evil General Ripper who can launch doomsday. I mean you can't go wrong with H-Bombs and end of the world. Next, I would like more about the end of the world where civilization is no more. Cell was too brief to do this justice and 'Stand' got too caught up with the dark man good/evil that the dirty laundry of regualr bad people was passed over. A Serial killer book like 'The Silence of the Lambs', I know it's already been done, but IMO SK could do it just as well or better. I think SK could do a darn good book about a modern day Salem Witch trial (that would be interesting) I really like 'The Lord of the Flies' and think SK could do a great remake. not that I think it needs re-writing but just a book in that genre and I think SK would be geeat after all the young kids he does so well like from 'IT' and 'Stand by Me' etc.. | Re: What type of book would you like SK to do? Would love to see an historical horror , very little of this about. Maybe a Nazi/occult like Dennis Wheatley did , or a more sinister Indiana Jones. Even going back further , how about a horror story set in the American Civil War , maybe involving a battle -fictitious or real - in or around Maine , or maybe featuring a Maine regiment. |

Not too sure how big of a novel it would make but if anyone has seen the movie 8mm, a "detective" story along those lines more slanted to be told from the criminals perspective however. Kings hallmark in my view has always been his vivid characterization id be interested to see how he created characters and painted the world of the sleazy underground porno fetish type of scene. He'd have to flesh out a pretty good story to go with it so as to not come of as gratuitous for the sake of it but it is a dark dirty world id like to read his take on. |

I know he would be good at it (hey, he's the king of course he would be good) but I think he showed bits and pieces of it through all his other novels (I know most think the Dark Tower series, but the first place I think of him showing how he would handle the genre was a few scenes in Salem's Lot). |

| Re: What type of book would you like SK to do? There is a deeply horrible short story I read in a collection called Night Visions 5 by Dark Harvest Iverson's Pits about an adult reminiscing over an event that happened to him as a boy scout. It's set during the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg and I won't spoil it as any horror aficionado, especially those who enjoy Stephen King, should read this. The end is one of those 'ohmigod' moments and although I love the author's work, I think SK could take this to another level. I'd personally like to see him do something Biblical. I think that could be fun, especially the Old Testament stuff. There's some dark material right there! |
