I really struggled with this film and I don't know why. I watched it and came out the other side saying, 'so what?'

The effects were good, then you would expect them to be, though I missed the unusual uses for everyday bits.

The story was as sound as it ever was, if not as innocent.

But in the end, I thought there was something missing, not just the Daleks.

In the end I could only put it onto the the Doctor. He was an Americanised impression of an Englishman, with a smidge of James Bond thrown in. Which was never Doctor Who.

I could understand, perhaps, if they had made it into an all action film. It would have appealed to youngsters who have never seen Doctor Who, if not for us oldies.

In the end it fell between two stools. Too much action, for the wrong people, for traditionalists and not enough for young trendies.
