| Re: Why did the Chicken cross the road? WDTCCTR? I think we're all forgetting that this is all the Romans fault. They built the road and the chicken crossed the road to ask the Romans why they had built a road. They said that it was for her to cross. Then she asked why she had to cross it but they replied that she already had crossed it but then she pointed out that her coop was now on the other side of the road and therefore she would have to cross the road again. The Romans offered to build her another coop on the side of the road that she was on since she had already fulfilled the crossing of said road, but she told them that her eggs were in the coop on the other side of the road. Then social services took her eggs away because she had left them alone to ask the Romans why they had built a road. Then she crossed the road again to go plead with social services to get her eggs back, Therefore the questi9on is not "Why did the chicken cross the road?" It is "Why did the chicken cross the roads?" |

| Destroyer of Words | Re: Why did the Chicken cross the road? To see what was on the other side (it was a medium chicken) OR To see what was on the other side (someone took her telly across the street) OR To get to the other side (there was a lot of traffic and the poor chicky was feeling suicidal) |

| Destroyer of Words | Re: Why did the Chicken cross the road? To go to a hen party. Cos she saw Rooster Cockburn. To avoid walking on egg shells. To try a different side walk. She was feeling plucky. OR clucky. She wanted to cross a little feather. Cos she's a chick. They always do just whatever they want, whatever you tell them about the dangers .... |

| ...Prepare Thyself | Re: Why did the Chicken cross the road? Now it is well known that birds have very good eyesight. You only have to look at the owls, falcons and eagles can do when seeking out prey to realise they are superb when it comes to these sorts of activity. What may not be so widely known is that chickens have even keener sight and furthermore some of the best hearing on the planet. They can hear a worm underground for ten feet through solid rock and even soft sand. It is for this reason that the oft humble, southern fried friend has been known to 'hunt' these delicacies. They usually start before dawn before the c*ck gets up to his antics. So, carefully and methodically you will see sometimes whole coops of hens searching listening for the tasty morsels. These hunts occasionally take the hens into dangerous territory quite close to the main road. Now in the twilight of dawn it is unwise for a chicken to start excavating his way down to a worm. The time involved would put them in danger of serious injury from the odd passing articulated lorry and the cure for this is for the chicken to mark the spot where the worm is in order that they can return later to investigate the possibility of a worm hiding in the ground. The traditional method is for the chicken to mark the spot with an 'X' or cross as some might say. Later following their dalliances with the c*ck they return and this is the irony of the situation because obviously the first or early chickens are the ones that usually get to the worm first much to the chagrin of the ones that actually found the worms. The selfish first comer's can be heard deriding their fellow feathered friends and this is where the phrase 'c*ck-a-hoot' is also derived. |
