As to mentioning that you should create a new thread: I was making a genuine comment and asking (in my rather roundabout way) if some of the GRRM sub-forum's denizens already knew of such a thread, which us lesser mortals might enjoy reading (and adding to).

| Re: A Dance With Dragons: Speculation? Here is my big theory, I've been dying to share it with someone for a while. John Snow is not Ned's son. He's the illegitimate son of Lyanna Stark (Ned's sister) and Ned claimed him as his own to spare his sister's memory from shame. That would make John's father either Rhaegar or Robert Baratheon. Hmm? How about that? And BTW Mr. Martin has said the additional POV is not Sandor, and the Tyrell's won't be in ADWD, which means it has to be Melisandre |

| Keep Moving Forward! | Re: A Dance With Dragons: Speculation? Hi Justine, welcome to the forums! The R+L=J (Rhaegar plus Lyanna equals Jon) theory has been around awhile, and discussed endlessly here - you might want to check out the rest of the GRRM boards for the numerous threads devoted to it (though you might wait for TK to come by and just list them here...). The good news is, even though it's old news, I'm sure you'll find two or three or a dozen folks here who'll happily and passionately discuss it anew. Me, I think Ned is Jon's father. Just to be different, mostly. |

this is just speculation but maybe we can piece something together here first before i make a fool of myself what is stanis's eye colour because when danys visits the undying she sees a vision of a king with a glowing red sword and blue eyes with a dragon banner blowing now my musing could jon become an other, bran rides away with someone that seems like an other so they can still retain there mind it seems plus there was a story about a stark of old that became one. I dont think that the others are all bad maybe the come off that way but Mel comes off as evil, dany and jon have to work together it is a song of ice AND fire i would like to believe it is a ying-yang now on how Jon gets lightbringer..... this may seem crazy but who knows i think he kills Arya she has lost her way and serves the stranger it would seem if he is Azhor reborn he has to kill someone he loves right now in his life i think only Ayra fits the bill, plus GRRM has said he could kill her off one last thing tyrion... targ? it would seem that all the targaryens living in the world killed there mothers being born also the tail they cut off seems a lot like danys baby that she lost. now i am probably wrong if you ask my wife i am always wrong but if i cant read ADWD i'll imagine my own

| Re: A Dance With Dragons: Speculation? The best analysis and most complete analysis I've found regarding Jon's parent is at Tower of the Hand: Past Events: Jon Snow's Parents ~ Tower of the Hand You can find the same information by going through the 80 threads that TK-421 posted but it's all in one place and neatly organized at Tower of the Hand. Scroll down to point III to get into R+L=J. |

| Re: A Dance With Dragons: Speculation? In my head it is a foregone conclusion that a dragon must die, due to the fact that the author is GRRM. I don't like this at all but feel it is INEVITABLE. Am I alone in this fear of Dragocide? |

| At the end of reality | Re: A Dance With Dragons: Speculation? Any idea of when this is even supposed to come out, if it isn't already? I just a couple days ago bought A Game of Thrones to kickstart the series and I'll be starting it after I get done with my copies of Elizabeth Haydon's Rhapsody series, so I was wondering if I should be on the lookout for ADWD soon or not..... |

| Re: A Dance With Dragons: Speculation? Alright, a hypothetical theory... The author is trying to subtly place as many of the named valarian steel swords in the north as possible. 1.The wall will fall. Someone will blow some horn and the magic holding back the others will fail. The watch will fall back to winterfell(jon snow, longclaw) at a very innoportune time. 2. The knights of the vale(lyn corbray, lady forlorn) march on winterfell pursued by someone loyal to the lanisters(randyl tarly, heartseeker) 3. Breinne survives, somehow( oathkeeper) and hears of sansas homecoming to winterfell. Stoneheart cat and company move to winterfell. 4. That guy with red rain (drum?) Just happens to be vacationing in winterfell at the time. Talk about a party. Even before the others or the dragons show up we've got another war. Prediction... Either corbray or tarly get wacked in the ensuing violence and bran/hodor show up to become the warging knight weilding heartseeker or lady forlorn, or both?. Does the bran/hodor combo remind anyone else of masterblaster from beyond the thunderdome? |

And Rfred; Bran, Hodor and the rest are now past the Wall and heading North so it's currently unlikely that they'll turn back unless forced to do so and if they do they'll probably not meet the Children of the Forest so I just can't see it, though anything is possible with GRRM. Perhaps Bran/Hodor wights will storm the Wall and Jon will have to kill his brother? As for the others, a lot of those are quite a long way from the Wall (the North is huge you know!) so again, I think unless they currently fight for Stannis or Jon Snow there won't be much help coming. Especially not if the Lord of Dreadfort starts skinning alive those who try... I also agree with Dolorous Nate (nice username btw) that there will probably be several main character deaths left in the series with Jon, Dany & Tyrion right in the mix. He's on record as saying the ending would be 'bittersweet' so all these people he puts in harms way...guess what, so will die.

| Re: A Dance With Dragons: Speculation? Melissandre has been confirmed as having at least one POV chapter. GRRM has said so himself as recently as a month ago in Valleycon as well as giving some news on other POVs. What WS is referring to is that, in the words of Yoda, "There is another...." GRRM has said that there will be a "surprise" new POV in ADWD of which he will not reveal or speculate on until the book is released. To recap, the confirmed POV's in ADWD are as follows (spoilers follow of course): Varamyr Sixskins Tyrion Dany Jon Bran Davos Asha Arya Sansa Reek (Theon) Melissandre Quentyn Cersei SURPRISE POV There continues to be speculation over whether the Sansa chapters have indeed moved to Winds of Winter or not. |
