Server boot

For past three days I have had weird issues with the forum. Some of the load times are extraordinary long, then when the results come back, the formatting is all over the place.

Other forums I venture works fine.

Re: Server boot

The first thing I'd suggest is that you clear your cache, ctg - this often helps, as the site seems prone to re-loading old information...

Ah well - I'm afraid that exhausts my technical knowledge...but I'm sure someone with more savvy will come along...

Re: Server boot

Well, I can say that this server is behaving really strange and if it would be up to me, I would boot it in first instance. The reason is that this is the only site where I'm having issues. So it cannot be a problem at my end, can it?

The only way to solve this really is to restart webserver (soft boot). If it does't help then reboot the database server if it's not located in same box. If that doesn't help, then start going through the logs and finding out what's really going on.

Then again, what do I know? I'm no longer work in the industry.

Re: Server boot

On the other hand, and I'm not meaning this in any negative way whatsoever, I've no problems, and no-one else has brought it up...Surely, if it was this end, we'd be inundated with posts in this thread...?

I'll e-mail Brian, anyway, and ask him to have a look at the server.

Re: Server boot

I've had problems. A past couple of nights it's been so that every page I've tried to go on doesn't load properly, missing off the Quick Reply box (which is the one I always use); sometimes I even just get a blank page and have to refresh a handful of times to get the page back. I've also had things like in ctg's pictures happen. But it's been doing it on and off for a while now so I've got used to it. And although it is only this site that seems to have problems, the worst of it seems to happen when my internet connection is being temperamental. Whether that's the cause, or something else...*shrugs*

Re: Server boot

Yep, same here. Occasional sluggishnesses noticed, loss of some attributes options, having to post a message twice or more before it takes, a few times at the weekend the site steadfastly refused to load, including all through most of Saturday, which was a bit of a bummer

Re: Server boot

I sometime get the missing quick post box weirdness too.

Have you tried logging off.

Another thing that seemed to improve it was when I re-selected chronicles network all posters at the bottom of the screen.

I suspect this formating info is a property of the the user's account rather than the local PC.

Hey but what do I know.

Re: Server boot

I had the same formatting problem as ctg for perhaps five minutes, one day last week but then it cleared all by itself.

Not had any problems with load time though.

Re: Server boot

The server has a couple of big sites on it, not least chronicles, and sometimes if one hits a peak of activity it can slow down the other sites and cause minor problems for them.

Hopefully it's not too common an occurence, but if it persists, Ill review the situation.
