| Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins! The PI wanted to get to the car without anyone seeing him. Sadly he'd only gone a block or so when he saw her following him. Another woman in the mix. This one wasn't a red head, but she'd be easy to spot...she seemed to be shedding, green tears. |

| ...Prepare Thyself | Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins! It was Opal. Opal and Oldric went way back. Way back to when Holy Wood had been planted. She seemed a little out of it; not knowing where she was. I didn't need another dame slowing me down but she obviously might know where Oldric had gone, or had been taken. I pulled her into the garage. She was upset, I started to get worried. Opal could take care of herself and Oldric was pretty useful in a squeeze but I'd never seen Opal crying like this before. "Come on Opal, spill it," I said. "Oh Tien it's Oldric, He's been taken by the gnomes. They said he he's been asking too many questions about some pixie business. They made him go with them. Tein they had Faerie wands, he didn't have a chance. Oh Tien what am I to do" I sat her in the car. The Thomson and the shotgun wouldn't be enough. If the bad guys were using Faerie magic and pixie dust then I needed more. I went to the back of the rental. A few minutes later I swung open the safe door and slipped a box of shimmer slugs into my jacket. They could down a Wyvern. I went back to the car. I couldn't leave Opal here so I took her along for the ride. I'd drop her somewhere safe before I went back to Holy Wood. This case was getting more tangles by the minute. I floored the pedal, the throaty roar of the engine at least drowned out the sobs coming from Opal. |

| Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins! Birdbrain and Claw steped out of the Bearcat. "Crap". Claw kicked the fire plug they had parked next to...."ouch". They were being paid to swat a fly that had gotten into the ointment. Well, they'd been hired to swat the fly. They wouldn't get paid till they actually plugged the bum. Of all the dumb luck, blasted stone aardvarks. Well they'd need to dumb the crate. The discription of it would be all over in no time, and there were still enough cops who weren't on the pad to make that a problem. "We'll need a new fliver love." Birdbrain nuzzled his ear, being careful of her fangs and his bristles. "Ya, 'ders a guy left a Caddy parked about a block away. He's out'a town, we'll....borrow it for a while. Hay Pilnab....Know where I can get some grenade bolts for my BAC?" The dark gnome pushed the pointed hat back on his head, spit a gob of black lotus juice at the orc's feet and squinted at him in an unconcerned sort of way. "Aye, I knows where yous can get a few, but it'll cost you and the big'un is is a bit of a hurry. You gat a couple of C notes to caver the fright if I get ya the swag?" The little blonde goblin had slid to one side and was keeping her wand on the gnome. The gnomes paid good, but you couldn't trust them as far as you sould throw them. Well, wait a minute, that wasn't a very good expression here as you could probably throw a gnome quite a ways. Still the principle held, you couldn't trust them. they had their own plans and their own ends. If this one tried to pull that rod on Claw... "Easy, 'der girlie, I'z just tellin' it like it be." "Ya, we got the dough Pilnab, we'll get the wheels, just drive me there." |

| Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins! Tien roared through the night, headed for more trouble no doubt, and then he saw it. He stopmed the brake, and slid the car to an abrupt and jaring halt.....instintivly throwing out an arm to keep Opal from flying through the windshield. There on the lamp post as big as life and twice as noticable, someone had posted a picture of Thread Bear! What was this, what was going on.....what was he into. He stepped out of the car and strode to the sidewalk, S&W rod in his hand ready to drill anything that moved. Jerking the poster down he gandered at it...it was Thread Bear alright, he could almost smell the scotch. It was just a flicker, no more than a twitch but it gave Tien the warning he needed. The dark form lept forward a shiv in it's hand...only it wasn't a hand, it was a claw! Tien blocked the thrust of the knife with the pistol. Unfortunatly it meant that the shot he squeezed off went wild. The dark form slashed at the PI's face with it's other claw just as Tien crashed his other fist into the form's hooded head. The would-be hitter jumped away from the gumshoe, but too late, the hood fell back...it was one of the Cat People, Simone Simon's ugly male cusin. With a snarl he fled into the night. So, Tien'd thought that the Cat People had left the city completely. Were they in the Wood? It was beginning to look like he soon wouldn't be able to tell the players in this thing without a "program". And by the way, what was "this thing"? Tien stood and looked into the night. What goes on here? |

| ...Prepare Thyself | Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins! I dropped Opal at a nearby motel. It was going to get messy. I would have enough to handle without nursemaiding some hysterical dame. I gave her some dough and left her. I parked the wheels just short of Holy Wood. I knew a back way into the dell. I had to crawl through a storm drain but I emerged on the other side of the valley that Foldie's bridge spanned. Foldie was in his joint, a shed that doubled as his toll booth. Gruff was nowhere to be seen. I'd take care of them on my way out. For now I needed to get to Oldric's place. He never went far without leaving a message. You had to know where to look. That was easy, you look everywhere. The door was hanging loose. Oldric lived in the base of a hollow tree. There was only one room, it was a mess. Somebody in this town had a lot of cleaning up to do. It looked like it was going to be me. In the corner where Oldic kept his rocks I found what I was looking for. I found something else which made i didn't expect or like. Oldric was one of the few people in this town that knew of my past life. He knew I would see the book and look. Pie Crusts by Mrs. Helen Scrotberg. It was a classic. In side the cover was the message. There was just two words 'Tein - Dizzey's' Dizzey's was a dive over on west side. Most of the towns low life and spaced out mythicals hung out there. Great! I'd busted most of them back in my days as a cop. They'd be sure to give me a warm welcome. The second thing was a handful of white fur. there was no blood but someone had obviously worked the bear over. Probably while I'd been occupied by Foldie and Gruff. Time to settle up on that score. Since the bear wasn't here he must be holding out. At Dizziy's thngs would get a little rougher. |
