I'm sure the vampires loved that.

*sigh* always fun when you decide to go through your whole book and change half the dialogue tags to action tags because you felt you were abusing good writing practice.

Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins!

Sorry if I sound ignorant, but what do you mean by an action tag?

EDIT: Do you mean you're replacing "...," he said. with "...." He looked into her eyes.

It's one of those new-fangled games kids play these days on Wii.

We used to just call it Tag.

Correct.

My fault is running them on with actions:

'Thanks,' he said, reaching towards the cup.

Now its just:

'Thanks.' He reached towards the cup.

We still know who said thanks, and the action is still there.

Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins!

Yeah, I was just reading an editor's comments on a blog who said it was better to use action tags instead of running the sentences on, is all. I'm not sure if either way is necessarily wrong.

Edit: oh yeah, I know that. kinda threw that example together without really thinking.

Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins!

There was only one h that could have been wrongly put in instead of the correct H.

So no scratching of heads here.

Odd that, it looked nothing like "ten times".

Well this isn't an Aspiring Writers thread, you know.

Which is why you really oughtn't to be here, really. (And take Springs with you.)

Now, you know me better than that, Ursa; i might dabble in the aspiring threads, I even turn up in GRRM from time to time now, but my heart lies here. And I can't go without it....
