Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins! I knew you'd throw the baby out with the bathwater. By the way, can you do me a favour and pop over to the 300-word challenge discussion thread and check whether you can see the image in post#9?

Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins! Damn. I'm baffled, particularly because I can see the image. The situation is this: if you add an image as an attachment, a thumbnail is displayed (which you can click on). To get a full-sized image frmo the get go, you have to link to a URL. (Even that was difficult with this image, because it took some effort to obtain it without the rest of the web page on which it sat.) Another mod had a solution: using the same means of separating out the image, but doing it from the image expanded from a thumbnail. That works. The next step is to download the image to my laptop and crop it, removing the black bars. I then went round the loop, getting the image I wanted. The first image I tried to show was from a moderator area; as I suspected, non-mods couldn't see it. To get round this, I went through the same procedure, but putting the thumbnail image in the Photo of the Day thread, direct from my laptop. I then grabbed the URL of that thumbnail's expanded image and placed that in the discussion thread. I have no idea why you can't see it. No mod-based areas of the chrons were used in the process. I'm completely baffled.

| Dramatically tremendous | Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins! Can't help. I struggled to get one line of font into my 75 worder in the right place and had to retype it (and the format's still not the way I wanted it to be), so you get some idea of my technical competence. For what it's worth, it's still a great image. |

Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins! I think I know how it went wrong (i.e. how I screwed it up): I never saved the post in the photo of the day thread, so there was no image for the others to see. I've tried again, in a new post in the discussion thread. Can you see the image now?

Re: Last Post in This Thread Wins! Thank goodness for that. The issue wasn't really about the black bars, it was one of image stability. We found the image on a NASA website; it had been an image of the day. It has already moved once (because more images of the day have appeared with... er... each new day). What we really wanted (and wanted to be sure about) was that the image would persist here at the Chrons. And the only way that we could be sure - setting aside system crashes - was to have the "source" image saved here. And now it is, in the Photo of the Day thread. ![]() ![]()
